HELP!!!! indirect flights

hi,could anyone please tell me the procedure on what to do when you get to the USA and check through customs.we fly into washington then have 2 1/2 hours to get our connecting flight.thing i don't know is what happens with my cases??? do i collect them as normal from my first flight and have to go back through customs for my connecting flight?

You collect them as normal when you arrive in Washington. You have to take your own bags through customs. Once through customs they will direct you to the place where you hand your bags over again for the next flight. You do not need to check them in again and you will hand them over literally just outside customs so you don't have to carry them far.
And once you get to Orlando you are in - so no passport control, no customs - you just walk straight on out down to car hire or buses or whatever.

On the way back you can check your bags straight through at Orlando meaning you don't have to collect them at Washington. They then automatically get loaded onto your next flight.
