I am going to be purchasing DVC points (about 150) to use every other year on a 2 bedroom villa. Please give me advise on which resort to purchase? A broker told me to go to Hilton head because the cheaper maintenance fees but I am concerned about the 7/11 month thing. What are your chances of switching? Also, what is the best resort for young kids. (2,4, 6)

Also, when they list the month that the points get credited does that have anything at all to do with the month you plan to travel. (I assume you should buy a resale close to when they get credited?

One more thing. Does anyone have experience with how much to offer a buyer with a resale?

Thank you so much!

You need to check out the frequenty asked questions at the top of this board.

The use year month has little to do with when you book, but everything to do with when you can bank your points.

PLEASE buy where you plan to book most often. The 7/11 month booking window is VERY important during certain times of the year and at certain WDW resorts. For instance, if you prefer VWL or BCV, these resorts are smaller, and will be difficult many times of the year. SSR and OKW will always be easy at the 7 month window because of their size. If you can deal with that, and can see yourself staying at HH sometimes, then go for it. If not, look for a resale contract for the resort you are most likely to want to visit.

BTW, lowest cost dues are at OKW.

Wow tuff choice

We purchased at wdw because thats were we want to vacation. We did spend a weekend in Hilton Head a few years ago and it was beautiful, but for me three days is more than enuf at the beach.

BCV is our home resort and i love the atmosphere and the location is great for us because our kids are older (14 17 19) they are able to walk back and forth from the parks and the hotel (well we keep closer tabs on the 14yr old). There is also alot of activities with boardwalk. But it also has one of the higher point usage per room.

We also own at BWV ant it has the same advantages as BC with the added plus of standard view rooms (less points).

OKW is also great, less stimuli, quieter, atmosphere is very relaxing and calming. Pool area is very nice and they just added a water slide. Also this resort takes less points then the others (150 would go longer). If my kids were little I think I would have purchased here, you know get them away from all the park excitement, try to keep them from boucing off the walls 24/7.

All these resorts are beautiful, I've stayed at BC, BW, OKW and WLV. My two favorites are bc and okw in that order

Good Luck with your choice, i'm sure your be happy with any "home" you pick

If your primary goal is to stay at WDW, then purchase one of the WDW DVC Resorts and skip Hilton Head. At least that way, you will always be assured of getting accomodations there at the 11 month window with the ability to switch at 7 months.

If there is a specific resort at WDW that you really like the most, buy there.

We own at HH and used to own at VWL. We've never had a problem getting a reservations at WDW under 7 months. We've only had to use the waitlist once and it came through after a few weeks. If you travel during busy times though, it will be tougher, but you will probably still be able to get something.

As for which resort is the best for young kids, you will probably get a lot of votes for BCV. It does have a great pool, but I think it is a little too spread out if you have young kids. My kids love BWV and the slide there. Plus, there's a community center and lots of things to do on the Boardwalk. You really can't go wrong with any of the resorts. We've stayed at all but SSR, and enjoyed all of them.

Can't help you with the buy side of resales. We have only bought through Disney.

Good luck!
