I am so indecisive when it comes to picking a resort. I have finally decided that since I have had such a rough time at work lately I am going to upgrade our trip to a deluxe resort, I just don't care about the money right now, it will get paid off life is too short, I want to do this for my kids and parents, whom I am treating to this trip, for all they have done to help me with my kids. Ok enough of the sappy stuff.

Anyways my parents still think we are staying at AS Sports,:rotfl: which I already chagned to POFQ. I would lvoe to stay at the Poly, however iall the rooms with free DDP are gone. So my options I am looking at are BC or AKL. I know my parents would love AKL especially if I got the savanna view. they also mentioned staying at the BC some time after seeing my sisters romm there one year. I know we all love Epcot and we have a few dinners planned there and it would be so nice to walk, the kids would love Stormalong Bay. However my deciding factor is the food. I know that AKL has a CS areaafter looking at the menus, what about BC?? Is there a place to get grab and go food and the refillable mugs? I know about the other resort dining, Cape May, Beaches and Cream. However we need a place for my mom, diabetic to be able to get breakfast, we usually grab a muffin or fruit for the kids too. We always do the mugs also. I am not into packing stuff for breakfast, we have done that before and never eat it. So any help??

Sorry so long!:rolleyes1

We love the Beach Club area and that would be my choice by far. It is convenient to Epcot - where you will be eating some meals -, MGM is a short boat ride or a walk away. AKL is, in my opinion, isolated.
The Beachclub Marketplace now does have grab and go type food. They have pastries, breakfast sandwiches and fruit parfaits for breakfast and salads and sandwiches etc the rest of the day.
You can refill your mugs at the Beach Club Marketplace as well.
The Beach Club gets my vote:cool1:
Have a Great Trip

when they build DVC they expanded the gift shop - it is now called market place and yes you can easily get a CS here.

It is nice and big - big enough for two.;)

Well I'm a big Swan fan but I can tell you I love staying at the Epcot resorts because there is just so much available to you, especially as far as food goes because you have the BC, YC, BW, Swan and Dolphin all there. Every resort has their own grab and go type of food area. I love being able to just walk to Epcot and to enjoy the BW at night as well as watching lluminations either from our room or just by standing outside by the bridge. During our stays we basically eat at all the Epcot resort restaurants because there are just so many there, as well as just walking over to Epcot if we feel like it.

Hope this helped.

Don't forget to request a full balcony if one is important to you at BC. Some of the rooms have a standing room only balcony, and if you don't request a full balcony, that's what you'll probably end up with.

The Epcot resort area is so convenient to both Epcot and MGM. It's one of my favorite areas.

thank you all I am on hold with Disney now getting ready to take the plung, or money pit. I am still excited I will just work a bit more to get it paid. We deserve it!

I would seriously consider renting points and staying at a DVC. We did this a couple of weeks ago. You may get a better package rate if you are needing tickets, dining, etc. But for just my DH and me, it was cheaper for us to just do everything separately. We stayed at Sarratoga Springs.

I just adored the AKL. I would agree that you felt a bit isolated but in a good way for us. It was so beautiful and we felt really special there. It felt like you were transported to another world away from Disney...but it still had the Disney magic. They have a cute little market place where you can get snacks and breakfast items all the time. Fresh muffins and donuts and even eggs and pancakes in the am.

When I thought of what a more upscale hotel would feel like at Disney, I had my expectations met at AKL. I would like to try other hotels in future...although we did visit GF and Poly and both seemed nice...but they did not seem better than our hotel, just different.

I think it is great that you are trying to upgrade your vacation for your family. They will enjoy any hotel you pick because I can tell you just want them to be happy. As long as you are there, happiness will follow.
