Hey! I'm trying to decide whether or not to book a different vacation and I'm confused on price.

If made two separate ressies w/ the following:
Two nights (Dec. 31 and Jan. 1) at Pop/Stnd rm- 145.12 and 92.95 for the two nights
THEN
Jan. 2-5 w/ AP rate of 49.00 per night at Pop/Stnd- 165.39

I wanted to add the dining plan but couldn't add it to Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 but if I did I had calculated the total for dining for Dec. 31- Jan. 5 for 2 ad and 1 child as 454.85 SO my total for the trip was 858.31 and maybe some tax on the dining plan.

SO then I logged on to check yet again to see if I could book a AP package w/ dining and lo and behold they have a Pop Stand room w/ dining available for Dec. 31 thru Jan. 5 but the total (w/out trip insurance) is 968.74.

What is the difference?? I really want to book this but why is there a 110.00 difference???

BUT now the passholder website has a Pop Stnd room w/ dining for Dec. 31- Jan. 5

Ok...this is weird...it wouldn't let me book it...said there was an error. ARGH! Oh well...I would not pay 110.00 more but I still wonder why it didn't add up the same way...:confused3

I think you are comparing apples to oranges.
If I recall correct you have two separate room only ressies.
You are wanting to book one package.
You most likely are comparing possibly three different rates between two RO res and one package.
I believe you are assuming you always maintain the same rate and just add on the cost of the dining.

Yeah....that's what I was doing...is there a difference in rates for the nights that aren't AP rates from rack rate? I am paying rack rate for the other two nights. Anyways...it isn't available now so oh well!

:confused3 Rates can be somewhat consistent. However I am not one to compare between all this daily pricing between seasons, weekday, weekends, etc. I am also guessing you are running into issues because of holiday pricing, changing seasons, various days of the week, etc. Then throw AP, FL res, etc in the mix and :headache: .
Personally I just see what prices I come up with and try to get the best deal for my needs. The prices are what they are.

That's why I don't think I would have booked it...if that is the correct quoted price for an AP package w/ dining then I saved 110.00 plus the $181.00 I saved by not paying for the dining plan those two days it is unavailable w/ my current ressies and that is alot of $$ I can use towards the eating as it is. I think we can eat on the $181.00 alone if we go counter only. Only downside is that we don't get a sit down but that's no biggie!

I am suprised the cost is so different...I would have thought it would have been similar but like you say...it's apples and oranges...lol!

Guess what!? I was online at the passholder website and checking rates (AGAIN...lol) and the chat CM popped up...so we chatted...and they said the following...this is PORTIONS of my whole conversation but it was tooo long to quote on here...

"Artimas: Alright, with our passholders, they have options when it comes to adding a dining package. If a passholder discounted rate is available, they can add the dining package onto that discounted rate. What you are seeing, a regular rate stay for all nights including the passholder dining package. With the first two nights of your stay that you have reserved, the rate you have isn't discounted, and therefore is booked differently. The last three you have are discounted and include the dining package. Because the first nights aren't discounted, and the last three nights are, the reservations must be separated.
you: so the quote I got last night online was not giving me the 49.00 per night AP room rate for Jan. 2-5 then? That would make sense...

you: we would have loved the dining all five nights but if it cost that much more then we might as well just use cash and risk paying the difference if it is needed...does that make sense?
you: I still need to call and add the dining plan to Jan. 2-5
you: So, the AP package I saw last night does not offer the AP rates on jan. 2-5 then?
Artimas: That is correct. The quote you saw wasn't providing you with the Passholder discount for those nights. It was providing all nights at regular rate.
you: that makes 100% sense! :)"

From what the CM here says, when you book the AP w/ dining package, you don't get an AP room rate....is that true???? I can't believe that! From what I figure...I am paying $49.00 (plus tax) for Jan. 2-5 for a Pop, stnd. room and the rack rate is rack rate is $82.00 (plus tax.) The difference for the three nights would be around 111.37 after 12.5% tax...that would show almost the exact reason why the online AP w/ dining quote was 110.00 more than what I have paid.

Basically, you have to choose...AP discounted room OR dining w/ rack rate but don't have to buy 1 day base tix...I had assumed that the AP dining package included a discount on rooms when available...who knew!

I do not agree with the CM. I booked a trip in Feb and have a discounted room and then was allowed to add dining for the reg price.. and I did not have to purchase tickets

I read various posts where some have stated no discounted AP room rates and dining. And always someone responds they did get discounted AP and dining.
I think it depends on what ticketless packages are available, the booking and travel dates, etc.

I have a reservation for 12/30-12/31 at ASMusic (rack rate no dining), then another one for 1/1-1/6 with the passholder room only for $49/night. I just today added dining to the 2nd reservation. However, the first person told me I would have to cancel and rebook and there wasn't availability. I chatted online with a Disney specialist and they told me otherwise. I called back and no problem--we now have dining and the $49/night passholder rate for 1/1-1/6 at ASMusic. So you can have both a passholder discount and dining.:yay:

Leigh -- I always call back again and again until I find the CM who can best accommodate me. Judging from some of the PP's responses, that might help you, too.

But I really posted to say how much I enjoyed seeing that your son Kevin, Jr., is called "K2"! What an adorable nickname.

I have an AP discounted room at PO-FQ for January 17th for a moderate @ $99 a night and added the delux dining to it. The only thing I wanted to mention was that once you add the dining to your room, it does become a package and sometimes the availability for a package is different than a room only availability. I would call.

Hi! Thanks! K2 kinda became the joke name when I was pregnant and knew it was a boy and he was going to be a "jr"...then it stuck! HA! He answers to about anything from Kevin to K2 to Kadoo...glad you like it!

I think you are right...after I started really thinking about it...I wondered if the website wasn't reflecting the discounted AP room b/c there were none available not b/c they don't offer it. The CM gave the impression you had to choose but once I stopped and thought about it I figured out otherwise.

Good news to everyone! After my third call trying to get the dining added, I got another wonderful CM (they all really were great and tried hard but couldn't work the system) and she was able to get me dining for both ressies!!!! And w/ my AP rate on the second ressie! So, we are relieved and thrilled! :)

Thanks to everyone for the great advice! Whew!
