I am interested in purchasing GF2 DVC Points DIrect (1st time dvc purchase). In a perfect world I would like to have purchased 250 - 300 points with no financing. The current promotions are coming to an end 5-31-22. I was hoping to make the actual purchase in 3-4 months, purely from a savings perspective. If i am told that the pricing will go from 207 per point to $255 per point, then I may jump in now. IF i am told that the points are really going to stay at 207 per point, but the additional discounts based upon the amount of points purchased may change or be gone then I would be willing to roll the dice.

Does anyone have a crystal ball to make a judement call as to the pricing moving forward?

255 was the “sold out”price for VGF1. When the current incentives end they’ll probably decrease the incentive amount or increase the price slightly like what they normally do, but I highly doubt it’ll be anywhere near 255.

What you can do is buy in right before the incentives end in a couple days and see what the prices jump to. You have 10 days to cancel the purchase, so if it jumps to a level you’re ok with backing out and buying later, you at least have that option.

Aside from the initial discount and just the fact that you have more points to use... are there any benefits for purchasing more then 150 points? At 150 points you qualify for some sort of benefit that escapes me at the moment. Are there any additional benefits you can think of above 150 points?

For membership extras, 150 direct is all you need at this moment. That could change at anytime. Last year, it did change in June.

The only benefit for more direct points is the ability to use them at RIV and any future resorts, potentially including VDH and the new Poly tower.

If you buy any resale points, those can not currently be used those places, no matter if you own other direct points.

One thing you can do is buy today, and get the current pricing and incentives locked in…you then have a 10 day period to cancel. If the pricing is worse, then you get what is there today. If they are better, they will rewrite it for you.

Now, if you have a Disney Visa you can pay that way and get 6 months interest free. They will spread out your payments too…I got 90 days for our 300 point purchase which mean I don’t have to fully pay it o off until December from my March purchase.

If you want to finance, maybe a mix of both would work.

Can you charge and pay it all off or will you finance it?

I would simply sign the contract on the 31st, see what pricing or discounts are on the 1st, and then possibly cancel my offer.

Not sure it would work if you were financing it though easily.

Getting more points is all about the discount. So you would need to do the math but I suspect the delta in total cost would be dramatic between 300 vs 150/150.

There’s never been a jump that big in active sales. I do think prices will go up, but not by $50 overnight. You have to decide whether a more modest jump like $10 or $20 is worth it to you, for whatever reasons you can’t buy now.

Just lock it in now and decide later.

Too late for me now, but buying now and canceling if incentives improve makes sense!

If you got on the phone with a guide right now there's a good chance they would extend the current incentives for you for a few days while you made your choice.

They did that for me the last time I was buying, and I didn't even ask for it.

I was just at Poly this past weekend and stopped to pick up my “free” gift - another Riviera print. I mentioned I almost added on at VGF but decided to wait since there were no incentives for less than 125 pts and then news was released about the Poly tower. The DVC guide said something to the effect that I might be surprised with the pricing/incentives on June 1….
As others have said, if you're on the fence go ahead and get the points and you have 10 days to back out and apply newer incentives, if better.

Also, as far as the payment date. We just finished our small 50 point add on and they let us pay cash over 60 days. So I paid 30% this week, 30% July 1 and 40% July 30. I plan on using Disney Visa for the last installment and then getting a $300 statement credit as well as another 6 month no interest finance.

You can definitely get creative direct with Disney from that perspective.

And to be clear, my points loaded in 12 hours.

We did the exact same thing. Added on 50 points at VGF with 3 separate charges on the Disney Visa over the next 2 months, which will give us a few interest free months to pay it off. And the points loaded right away.

We also did the same thing at the end of May
