Let me start from the top. We are currently booked at POR for Sept 4-11, 2008
Me, DH, DS8, DD11 and my mom. We can fit in one room, that is the good part. Now, I keep reading about the buses at POR and am a little concerned. My mom can not stand for long nor walk for long distances. My DH also has mobility issues with 3 ruptured discs in his back. Several threads are saying the buses are slow and sometimes no seats available.

DH and I stayed at CSR last year and loved it. The internal golf cart riding was great and kept him from having to walk everywhere. Someone correct me but POR does not have anything like that.
Now the second part of my dilemma is that our DS20 and my DIL's brother have decided to join us for the trip. I am glad they are coming along but now I have to decide if POR is worth it to stay in 2 rooms or change to CSR.
OH! This is such a hard choice.:headache:
POR looks beautiful and I know my mom will like it but the golf cart at CSR will save them from walking.

Anyone with input that can give me some direction in this matter would be great.

Thanks in advance:goodvibes

Unless they have made changes recently you are correct about POR not having an internal golf cart transport. Both are big resorts but POR could give you a longer walk to the bus/food court than CSR. As far as bus transport goes I don't think POR buses are that much more crowded (or slower) than CSR. I go often with my (getting) older mother and someone always offers her a seat on the bus. You could always request a room at POR close to main building or bus stop and trust that you will get one.

With five people, your eight year old will have to sleep in a trundle bed. I didn't think they were designed to hold a child of more than about four or five.

Actually I tend to disagree, sorry :)

I have stayed at POR and will again in SIX DAYS!!! Last fall we were at CSR and I have to say, we absolutely LOVED CSR and love it much more then POR. The bus situation is so much better at CSR then it is at POR, for one main reason...CSR is a convention hotel and doesn't get the hordes of crowds that POR does for bus services as a lot of folks at the hotel are there for conventions.

Also, CSR doesn't share the bus service with any other resort.

We have a waiting game only twice the entire 10 days we were there last fall, and once it was because of a broken down bus.

Have fun!

That's a tough decision. I would say CSR, since you stayed there before and loved it. With the mobility issues, the internal shuttles are a help I'm sure.

But if it meant adding another room, I don't know. I'm not sure how many people total are going, but maybe you could put 4 in one room and 4 in another. I guess it boils down to what you're comforable with $$$ wise. Have a great trip wherever you stay!

Hi, just wanted to let you know that we just returned from a stay at POR last Saturday, we had my mom with us who also has mobility issues. They were very accommodating to us and switched us to Bldg 15 that was close to the bus stop and the Mill.

Can't wait to go back next year for the free dining again! :yay:
