OK. I posted a new message and it never showed up. So let me try again.

How hard is it to book another WDW DVC resort (other than your home resort) during the summer utilizing the 7 month window?

For example I'm considering purchasing a 200 pt OKW contract. If we want to spend a week next summer at one of the other resorts how hard would it be to get?

Summer shouldn't be a big problem.

Just don't expect to get BCV (because of SLB) at 6 or even 7 months.

BWV should be availability. VWL might be.

the times when you better like your home resort is Dec 1-14, Thanksgiving.
for any Epcot resort (BCV and BWV) - during the food/wine festavial Sept 30 - Nov 12 (they kept expanding the dates on this one).

also April 15- June 10 - the flower/garden festavial is getting more popularity. Again epcot resorts.

Sept never has been for me.

We have most of our points at OKW and just 50 at BCV. At exactly 7 months I switched from OKW to BCV for a studio for August 23 without any problems. I also switched a 1 bedroom at OKW to a 2 bedroom at OKW at 7 months, because I needed BCV points to book it. This is for another busy time February, during President's week. Not that I have much experience since we are fairly new members, Nov.03, but as spiceycat said, I think certain resorts at certain very popular times for DVC members to go, can be difficult at 7 months. Remember though, many here have posted success with the waitlists.

We were able to book a studio BCV at less than 60 days out on points for Labor Day week this year (had points in holding) so it is possible, some times of year are just more challenging.

The other hard one might be a BWV standard view studio.
