So I am still pondering over my ADR's and realized that I have never had a TS in WS at Epcot. We always eat Garden Grill and Coral Reef. I have been reading menus and reviews for the restaurants in WS and am still clueless as to what a good choice would be for our family. (me, DH, and our girls who will be 8 and 9) Just looking for some recommendations because I am clueless. I want something that is 1 TS credit. We don't like anything too exotic.

The 2 suggestions I would have would be either Akershus in Norway or Les Chefs in France.

Les Chefs is a pretty good meal and hasn't disappointed us. We have never had the issues with food or service that some others have complained about. If you go for lunch or early dinner you may even run into Remy. Akershus is a decent Princess character meal that your daughters might enjoy. We have had lunch there. There is a cold bar (included) with cheeses and meats and salads and fruit for a starter (we easily could have filled up on that alone), the entrees were alright (you pick one off of the menu) and dessert is served to you family style and are yummy. Included with the meal is a photo package of the picture you take with Belle when you enter the restaurant. It's a pretty good use of 1TS per person, especially if your daughters still enjoy princesses. If the lunch or dinner menus are too intimidating for your party, you could alwas do breakfast there.

My family is the same as yours. They don't like exotic food so a lot of the restaurants are out of the question for us. Where my husband will eat in the WS are: Le Cellier (lunch is one credit) and Akershus. I was pleasantly surprised that the dinner at Akershus was very agreeable to both my husband and daughter, who is 5 and hates just about everything. Every other place got a big "Ew, no thanks!" from my family.

I think Biergarten might be the best place to start. It's a buffet so everyone has lots of choices. The food is not too "exotic" and it seems to appeal even to picky eaters. The atmosphere is a lot of fun and I think gives you a real flavor of Germany.

After that, my next recommendation would be Rose & Crown. The ingredients are familiar to American palates and the food is not heavily spiced.

Both are 1 TS credit.

Keep in mind I have not been yet, but I think a great choice sounds like via napoli. It is supposed to be fairly authentic, while at the same time you should recognize and enjoy all the ingredients.

Well, I guess it depends on your definition of exotic. In your daily life, do you eat Chinese take out or pizza or spaghetti - or would you consider those exotic? I don't particularly consider myself an adventurous diner, but I enjoy Via Napoli, Rose and Crown, Nine Dragons, and Le Cellier. In fact, I like my Chinese food a lot spicier than it is prepared at Nine Dragons, so theirs is pretty mild. I've found most of the menus have some items that are more "Americanized" and some that are more regionally correct, so that both the adventurous diner and us "chicken diners" can have something to eat.

I agree with this. My dad refuses to eat Chinese food and only just tried Mexican (very Americanized-Mexican) a few years ago. He's 74. But in our house growing up, pizza and spahetti were not exotic foods. In contrast, one of my friends told me that in her house growing up even pizza was too exotic for her dad to eat.

Are you looking to expand your horizons with different types of food, or just looking to try a new restaurant without having to eat anything "too exotic"?

I'd definitely recommend LeCellier for lunch (1TS) because it's really not exotic food. It's a steakhouse and they have hamburgers and Caesar salads on the lunch menu.

Akershus breakfast is not exotic either. It's standard breakfast food. Lunch and dinner are more keeping with a Norwegian theme, but read the descriptions of the entrees rather than just the entree name. It's still chicken, pork, and beef. Just maybe with some seasonings and sauces you might not be familiar with.

I didn't enjoy my meal at Chefs de France so I can't really recommend that.

Via Napoli or Tutto Italia would be good choices.

We like Rose & Crown Pub. Most dishes are pretty straightforward -- fish and chips, etc. They also have a nice cheese plate that we like. Plus, the adults can get Guiness on tap. Yum!

I think part of the fun of WS is trying something new. For the most part all are foods are americanized. Le Cellier for lunch is fine. WE had steak and soup son had cheese pizza. Les Chefs is alright too. There's half a roast chicken, salmon, ect. My son perosnally never finds anything spectacular on this menu but there is pasta and burger and fries for kids.
My son actually enjoyed fish and chips this trip the most (England). He is not a fish stick kid so I wasn't sure but it was his pick and he loved it.

For non-adventurous eaters I would recommend either Le Cellier (lunch only one credit!), Chefs de France, Rose And Crown or Via Napoli.

I am an extremely picky eater and won't eat at most places in the WS as a result. We have done Via Napoli and gotten pizza which was very good, and Rose & Crown where I got fish & chips which were also good, although there was not anything else on the menu there that I would eat.

Honestly, I wouldn't consider any restaurant in WS exotic. As others have said, the dishes are prepared for a mass-market, American audience. Every restaurant offers dishes that are somewhat plain, and you can always ask to have sauces left off, substitute sides, etc.

Also, consider that menu descriptions are written to make the dish sound special and fancy. A quick Google search can make exotic-sounding terms understandable.

Take a look at the menus, and use Google to look up anything that doesn't sound familiar. I'll bet you'll find a pretty broad range of choices in restaurants you might not have considered before. :)

I would try for lunch at LeCellier first, then Via Napoli, Tutto Italia, or Tepan Edo for Dinner. You should be able to get a meal that everyone enjoys at any of those restaurants.

We did a walk-up at Via Napoli Christmas week, ordered the largest Pizza, and waters to drink (party of 5, 3 teenagers, left-over pizza). Pizza was excellent and the price was cheaper than a CS. Service was great and friendly!

Thanks for all the opinions!

Pizza and spaghetti are not "exotic" in my opinion. I was originally wanting to try San Angel Inn but from some of the reviews the food is more authentic than what you would get at a local mexican restaurant. So that kinda threw me off.

Thank you all again! I may see if we can get Le Cellier for lunch. I didn't realize it was only one credit at that time.
