and I used points to book it. I used banked and borrowed points--do I have any option? Can I sell it or put it in someone else's name? Has this ever happened to anyone before?:guilty:

If you cancel, your points are now reservation points. You can only use them to stay at a non-DVC Disney resort and they expire at the end of your UY. Plus you will have to pay the $95 fee for that new reservation.

I don't think you change totally change the names on the reservation either.

Nope, you cannot transfer nor "sell" the cruise reservation. One of the adults booked on the reservation must sail...or possibly rebook for another $95 fee. Unless you cancel....

Hmmm. I spoke to a DVC supervisor today and she told me that I could indeed transfer the reservation to someone else's name. I would have to actually cancel and rebook and I would lose 72 points (not sure how she came up with that number). I really don't know what to do.

We booked a cruise using Developer's points from our add-on last year, and also had to cancel due to baby's recurrent pneumonia. We lost our $95.00, plus maybe 80 points? When we got the all clear for baby's health to rebook, we had to spend another $95.00 x 2 as we could only use our Developer's points at non-DVC resorts, so we booked Poly and Yacht Club concierge. We were also within the last few weeks of our use year (only time this has happened as I was on maternity leave).

We had no problems with this as these are the rules - it's not Disney's fault that our baby was ill, and we chose to cancel.

Good luck, Tiger

Good luck

Cancelling and rebooking is totally different from "transferring". To rebook on points will be costly. Those who "rent" points do not typically want to pay more than they would if they booked direct with DCL themselves, which is typically what happens in those cases. When you rebook you will be paying a $95 fee as well.

Hope your baby is doing well now - sorry to hear about all that.

Thank you so very much! He just had ear tube and adenoid surgery 2 weeks ago and is doing very well! This combined with his asthma diagnosis in the winter, has made for a much better 6 months than we've ever had. Last year was very scary to constantly have a small baby (it started at 8 months old) in hospital, emerg, doc's office, etc. Amazingly, he made an incredible recovery and we were given the green light to go to WDW for almost 3 weeks last May and he loved it.

We are now axiously awaiting our regularly scheduled July trip - only 61 more days to go!

Thanks and good luck to OP, Tiger :)
