Help!! I can't find a room anywhere!!

Try the Downtown Disney Hotels. I have stayed at most of them. The two I can highly recommend is the Hilton (really convient to Pleasure Island) and it is almost a Disney hotel since the get some of the privaleges (like early entry) that real Disney hotel guests get. Also the Palace is an excellent choice. Of the rest they are okay but not worth rack rate. Someone mentioned the Embassy Suites, we have stayed at the one "behind" the Crossroads and can recommend that one, in fact we are staying there next weekend.

Just a warning... Travelocity sometimes lies.... I have tried to book on their site and when you get to the end it decides that the Disney rooms were not actually available.

Have you tried having Dreams Unlimited look for you? They have had success for me in the past when I have failed.

Well, I checked again with Disney and even talked to Guest Relations. Come to find out Disney has "blocked" 12/10 and even if people cancel will not be making any rooms available for that day. She couldn't tell me why they had blocked them. I have decided to book a room off site, and pray that will work out ok. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions and help.

Hi Dana,
I would try bidding thru Priceline. I have been doing this for the last 3 trips to Disney. We always spend the majority of our vacation on Disney property, but spend a few extra days beforehand doing other things like universal and SeaWorld.

Your odds usually improve on Priceline the closer you get. I picked up the Wyndham Resort, right across the street from Downtown Disney for 2 nights at $62 per night. This hotel usually goes $150-200 per night.

With Priceline, you are not guarenteed a particular hotel, but you can guarentee a general area (Disneyworld and vicinity) and a quality level. My last 3 trips we have gotten the Wyndham twice and the Hilton once.

If you bid on priceline, and ask for a Resort hotel, you will generally get either the Wyndham or the Hilton, both at DTD. Other hotels that have come up are the Swan and Dolphin, although this is rare. The Mariott Orlando World Center has also been known to come up.

In my opinion, very little risk, and you are pretty much guaranteed a great price on a great hotel.

If you want more info, let me know.

Steve

For high-class/high-quality get a room at the Hilton in Downtown disney. Make sure you book the concierge/club level, a must! :groom:

*its also the only hotel in dtd that offers the EMH!

Try calling the Swan and Dolphin directly. Last year we called WDW and were told there were no rooms anywhere. We called the Swan and Dolphin directly and they had rooms available. I was even able to get the teacher rate. This was the morning of the day we wanted to go. Give it a try. It worked out for us. Good luck!

A big part of the problem this year were all the hurricanes that we had down here. Evidently, a large number of folks had to change their plans, and decided to come down in November and December. The resort has been quite crowded in recent weeks.

Did you try the DVC rent/trade boards? Maybe someone over there has points available you can use. We just booked a room at the BWV from someone on those boards for the end of dec. for cheaper then our original POFQ rservation. So its worth a try! Good Luck!

We're booked at WL for that weekend, the 10-13, but now I'm getting worried! Do you guys think it's going to be extremely crowded that weekend? It seems like everyone is going to be there the same time we are!

I second the idea of bidding for a Resort level hotel on Priceline. I use www.biddingfortravel.com to get an idea of what is being accepted.

Another thought is booking Cypress Pointe through hotelkingdom.com They are just around the corner from POR and FW on the back way to Apopka-Vineland and have very reasonable rates.

Hope something turns up for you! :wizard:

We just went for a last minute, and I do mean minute, trip to Florida. We wanted to do Disney for a few days so I started calling on Thanksgiving to check for that weekend. I was told everything was sold out. My husband who has more faith than me, said we should just drive into Disney on Friday and see what happened. Sure enough, on Friday, only one day after I was told everything was sold out, there were rooms at every resort. I received a great rate and we stayed at the Poly one night and the WL the next. If you are going anyway, reserve a cheap off site room, you can usually cancel within a day, and then call when you get down there and check room availability, it can't hurt. I was glad to read you had your tickets already, because I believe Dec 10 may be sold out. Good luck, even if you have to stay off site it will be fun.
