Ok, normally I would have booked this way in advnace, but I didn't think we were going to be able to make it. Then last week my husband surprised me by saying he wanted to take me and the kids to MVMCP on December 10th. Which left me 3 weeks to try and plan everything. Now I am stuck. There are NO rooms available for the 10th except for suites and concierge levels, which are definately out of my price range. I have been able to book one room for the 11th, but now I don't know what to do. I have been checking every day, multiple times a day to see if anything has opened up, but so far no luck. If I can't find anything by the 3rd I am going to have to make arrangements for a hotel off site for that Friday night. I have never stayed off site and don't know anything about any of the hotels. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Dana

The only Standard room available for the 10th at a Disney resort is at the Yacht Club at a price of $322.24 (including tax).

You're right - the only other rooms available are concierge and suites. :(

Keep trying every day - something will open up!! ::yes::

I'd keep on trying. You never know what may open up. People may cancel by the five day cancellation policy, so that would be a good day to try calling several times.

Did you try the Downtown Disney resorts? The Doubletree and Hilton both have rooms available on the Hilton website.

This happened to me two weekends ago too. :( Make sure you check the S&D, they did have rooms even though every thing else was booked. I also called our resort of choice directly (PC) and a manager there said we could take our chances as "walk ins" ?? ah, no thanks. It was ultimately the $1200 airfare that made us can it.

I agree, keep calling, you never know what will open up. Another good point though, that someone brought up is - if it's that busy do you really want to be there? Maybe you do. We're taking our chances with January - they'll be having Extra Magic Hours morning AND evening so maybe that sweetens the pot?

We stayed at The Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista last Dec. It's not Disney, but it was a really nice place, free breakfast, and a two room suite.

Good Luck!!!:wave2:

Under normal circumstances I would just postpone the trip and say "we'll plan better next year". But stupid me, since the WDW website said that this was their slowest time of year, and I had been able to get last minute reservations all year during peak time, went ahead and told my 3 year old we were going to "Mickey's Christmas Party". If I were to back out now I would feel horrible. So, I am going no matter what!!

I will just be calling every day until we leave, and may even try walking in and seeing what is available. Who knows plenty of people have to cancel every day right?!

Thanks again,
Dana

I took a look on the Starwood site for the Walt Disney Swan and they do have Friday night open there for a rate of $199. Nothing for Saturday night though, so you would have to consider moving. I looked on Travelocity and they actually have the Animal Kingdom available for both Friday and Saturday night at the $199 rate. I'll post the direct link and hopefully it will take there Travelocity

...you WERE to go, I don't know if there are tickets available for MVMCP! I would DEFINITELY try S/D or DTD area....

Hi Dana, I sure feel for you. I was in this position recently and I contacted MagicalJourneys.com and they were able to get something for me after a few days. Saved a lot of headaches. Do you have an AP? I wonder if there are a certain number of rooms blocked out for AP rates. Might be worth trying. I also checked Yahoo Travel and they do have some downtown Disney hotels available. I'm not sure if this will help you or not.

Just FYI, I found out yesterday that there is a cheerleading competition that weekend so that could be why the resorts are full.

As of this evening, the official Disney site is still only showing 12/17 as being sold out.

I already purchased my tickets for the MVMCP, so I at least know that we will be able to go to that. I just need the hotel room. I check for the Florida resident and AP rates and there is nothing available with those at all. Thank you so much for that link I am checking it out now. I keep calling every few hours and checking with Disney reservations to see if anyone has cancelled and I may continue to do that for a few days. Thank goodness for unlimited long distance and free nights and weekends on my cell phone, lol. Otherwise I would probably be spending more money on my phone bill than what I am trying to save on the rooms, lol.

Have you tried any of the Downtown Disney hotels? It would be the next best thing to being on-site. You could book one of thoes hotels, and keep checking for a Disney hotel. Good Luck!

Check with Sherrynny, she posted that she has to cancel a room. She posted it on the theme park boards. Its on the first page. Half way down. Hope this helps.

You have my sympathy. I was doing the same thing, but finally got a room this week. I did have a room at the A/S Sports, but wanted something else if it became available. Called almost daily and finally this week got into the BW/standard room CM rate. I was looking for CM or AP rates. You could book a room at one of the Holiday Inns--I think maingate near AKL has pretty good rates and the cancellation policy may be 24 or 48 hours prior, that gives you the assurance of a place to sleep, but you can still continue to check for availability.

did you check into DTD
DoubleTree Guest Suites? mousesavers.com has some good rates for them and they have nice rooms and they are large

That happened to me for this weekend. I ended up staying at Gaylord Palms ($129 from Expedia). We were upgraded to a suite and the hotel is gorgeous. I saw a regular room to and it was very spacious (410 sq feet). I LOVE Disney but I think that we have found a "new" Disney hotel for us. You should check the place out.

we had a room booked at the marriott village but changed to por at the last minute - the marriott village has a 24 hour cancellation policy, so you could book there as a backup and then cancel if you manage to get onsite.

I hope you have the tickets for the 10th...the party sold out this morning!

I have also discovered a recent "trick" to booking WDW rooms. Try asking for more nights than you need, sometimes availablity pops up.

On the WDW website, when I asked for the 10-13th, it offered me Old Key West for 283.22 per night including tax, and Boardwalk Villas for 322.24 per night including tax.

Then once you booked, you could drop the nights you didn't need.
