Help I am in tears!!! UPDATE- Found it!

So I went to the Disney Store today to buy a few shirts for our upcomming trip, and as always, they asked me for my ID. No problem, started looking for it, and it is GONE!! I know where I last had it, but can't go check until they open up in the morning. I have been searching for my passport for an hour, and can't find it. Help! What am I going to do? We leave in 7 days!!!! OMG!!! I know if I go get a new ID they will give me a paper copy with my picture, but I doubt that will be good enough for TSA. I am freaking out. HELP PLEASE HELP.



I found my passport!! I am going to call in the morning to see if the school has my ID (last place I had it), if they don't, looks like I will be spending the day at my local DMV!!! Fun!

Thanks for the replies! Called my school, and sure enough, they have my ID! My mom called last night, and had my passport. (long story). What a weight off my shoulder!

Okay, first, take a deep breath. Breathe in...breathe out. Now do it again.

The fact is that you don't have to have photo ID to go through security. I've ended up at security without my DL (it fell out of my wallet in between my car seats when my purse fell over the night before) and they just wanted me to show a bunch of stuff, like credit cards, insurance card. It helped that my business card has my photo on it, too. Just plan to go very early and say right up front that you lost your DL. And if you can go get a paper copy with your photo, that will be enough for TSA, but still allow yourself a little more time as you'll have to go through extra security screening.

I had this happen to an old GF. She left her wallet in a resturaunt before we drove five hours to the city with the airport. Didn't notice until the night before our morning flight. We had the local police dept where we live fax a copy of her license and the lost ID report to a friend's office. Picked up the fax in the am on way to the airport. It was messy but worked.

You don't actually need ID to get on a plane. You'll get extra searched, but that's about it.

Once I forgot my ID at Midway airport and got through with my Costco card.

It's only a problem if you are not a terrorist. If you are a terrorist, you don't need any ID. One way ticket with cash, just a small carry-on? No problem - go right on board! Heading to Disney with kids, strollers, grandparents, etc? Get ready for the stripsearch!

Having had this problem myself before it is way more then just using credit cards.You go through alot of additional searching and it takes along time to get through. You do however get through. Make sure you are there with alot of extra time. Be patient and calm. p.s. take ss card if you have one and anything with your name and picture on it.

I don't see why this is scary. Maybe you don't fly often? People lose their photo ID ALL THE TIME - TSA has no interest in stopping people from flying because of this. That's why people without photo ID get extra screening. What would happen if you got mugged on vacation? Do you think TSA would make you stay in your vacation city until you could get some sort of photo ID mailed from home? On any given day, there's a small percentage of people traveling who left their wallet at home, lost their ID, etc.

Photo ID is not a deterrent for someone committed to doing harm. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who committed or tried to commit an act of terrorism on a plane (at least one in/bound for the US) who did not have valid photo ID or a very good forgery.
