Okay, I finally did something stupid myself. Usually it's the kids or Dh that leaves markers, pens, gum, chapstick, that kind of stuff in their pockets and
it ends up in the laundry. Well, it was me this time. I left a bright pink Sharpie marker on our bed and then decided I was going to change the sheets. I washed it and dried it without ever realizing it was there - until I took the sheets out of the dryer! Bright pink spots and stripes all over my sheets and all over my dryer! I'm not really concerned with the sheets - they are old anyway, but I'm afraid those pink spots will come off on other clothes I put in the dryer - do you think it's safe to leave them there? If not, what can I use to take them off? We're talking about a lot of pink spots here. :sad2:

Try calling the Sharpie company. DH let the kids get black Sharpie all over my brand new dining room table ... he called Sharpie and they said to use a small amount of rubbing alchohol. It worked.

The other day I accidentally used a sharpie on my white erase board (picked up the wrong marker) My husband told me to use the eraseable marker over the sharpie then rewipe. I thought the idea was stupid and wouldn't work but kudo's to my husband it worked like a charm. How do men know these things?? :confused3 So try that.

there was a post about this last year. I dont remember what sharpie had them use.

Our DD colored our linen closet doors and bathroom tile with a sharpie. The magic eraser worked like a charm. It does a wonderful job of removing those stubborn marks!!

I've had success using nail polish remover. Good luck.

I was going to suggest rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover. The Magic Eraser might work too.

But as others have suggested, call Sharpie. :)

Rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover are flammable. Would it be safe to use them in a dryer?

Don't want to take blame if anything does go wrong but...
2+ yrs ago I exploded a ball point pen in the dryer, used acetone nail polish remover to get it ALL off, wiped it down with water, then let it air out for 1+ day before using it again. I was concerned about it being flammable, but didn't have an issue.

Hairspray. The cheaper the better. At my first job one of my chores was to spray hairspray on these clear plastic strips we used to track jobs progress. I would just spray the hairspray on and wipe off with paper towel. Then I had to get the blue Sharpie off my hands. I learned to hate the smell of hairspray!

Also Goof Off or Goo Gone. They work wonders!

If you're nervous about rubbing alcohol, try using some hand sanitizer. It's the same concept, but a little less concentrated alcohol. Got sharpie off my hands and a wood laminate table.

my first thought was Goo Gone but I don't know about the flamibility of it. I would think that if you used it and it worked then you could always use a washcloth with soap and water to wash the residew off then allow it to airdry for awhile. The alcohol content would disipate.....you might want to turn off the pilot light if it is a gas dryer.

Spray Lysol works to get Sharpie off walls & clothes if you get to it soon enough.
After about a week it doesn't work as well.
Store brand spray disinfectants work also.
It's worth a shot, but with the heat setting it in , I don't know.
