Going out of my mind trying to figure what trip to book for the beginning of October.
Do I go for the Disney 5 + 2 deal at a moderate resort (POFQ OR PQR) and book the plane separetely? Or do I book through Expedia at a downtown disney hotel (Best Western, Royal Plaza or Holiday Inn) with the plane and buy a pass online? Prices seem rather the same...not sure with the US$ vs Cnd
And what's the difference between the PH plus and the UPH? can I get the UPH with a downtown hotel?
First time in WD since 1977 (don't remember it!). I'm going with my mom. Two adults alone...what's the best place to stay with relatively limited means?
Have to decide in the next 24hrs as the 5+2 deal ends tomorrow....please I could use your guidance......

For what it's worth.

I would stay onsite in a moderate resort. I just booked Aug 9-17th (8 nights) for $749 all taxes in (U.S dollars) I booked 2 airfares for $792 Canadian on Air Canada. I have Annuals..so not sure what passes would cost..but I always find I can do a better deal when I put it together myself.

When I go with my daughter..I find we don't need a rental car. We take the Mears shuttle from the airport and back and should we want to go someplace else..we cab it. You can weigh this up for what works for you. I think when you stay off property you lose a lot of time just getting back and forth to the parks and feel you have to stay the whole day whereas if you are in a Disney hotel, you can pop back there for a break or lunch or a swim, whatever.

Have fun! You will see LOTS of changes!

I booked rooms at the end of Sept. to Oct 6. If your vacation starts before the end of Sept. you can save some money on your hotel (value season) I booked using my CAA card at the ALL STAR sports resort. The total with taxes was 66 dollars a night u.s. I plan on buying a 7 day hopper plus pass at the local Disney Store. This ticket never expires. I found this was cheaper in the long run then the Dream Maker package. With that package you are paying for park passes on the day you arrive and the day you leave. So depending on the time you arrive/leave (at) your hotel it might not be worth it. I know for us it definately was not. Hope this helps a bit. The All Star is very affordable, plus you get the Bus service to all of the parks. Hope this helps a bit. Good luck and let me know what you decided!

Thank you both for responding!
Here's the result: booked the 5+2 package with WD site...did more search and comparison and decided it was best..compared prices with CAA and it would have cost more to go separate (value resort is not really our style)...plus it's less hassle....just the flight to book but that will be later! Will be staying at POR second week of November! Requested Oak Manor...hope we get it...a bit scared with the renovs going on!
Glad it's over...was organizing 2 trips at once...going on tomorrow to tour the Gaspésie region and NB by car...can't wait for the seafood!
