Well, now that we've decided on the 81-77-26 route for our June trip, we are now investigating hotels. We're thinking stopping in Columbia or Orangeburg would be a good distance for our first day. So we found a couple that we like and did the map driving directions on the website and compared it to the Google Maps directions.

So, taking the EXACT same route, total mileage 660, the hotel website says our travel time is 9 hrs. 49 min. Google says 11 hrs. 7 min. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Obviously the hotel website is assuming over 65 mph for the entire trip there. Seems unrealistic right? All you experts, please weigh in!

Thanks,

I get a difference of 78 minutes, about 13% of your driving time, not that big of a difference in my book. I'd stick with the google maps driving time, I find them most reliable, and if it only takes 9 hours 49 min, then your ahead of the game.
