Hi!
We are looking for a room off site Dec 30 and 31. On the Jan 1 we will check in to our room at POR and really begin our WDW vacation.
We are wanting to stay off site and basically go resort hopping and see all of the Christmas decorations but we will not go into the parks until Jan 1. So we want to be close enough that we aren't having to drive really far. Would love to be in the DTD area or close by.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to stay. Not wanting to spend big $$ on these rooms but are looking for something comfortable and clean...in a safe area. Hopefully with queen beds and a continental breakfast included would be really great.

I am also wondering if I need to book now or should I wait until we get closer.

Thanks for your input and suggestions!

That is probably the busiest week of the year there. I wouldn't wait. If you can find anything at a reasonable price now, grab it.

Marriott has several properties in the area, and most of them still show availability for those dates, in the $139-$169 range. I would definitely book ASAP - they do get close to 100% occupancy for new years

Yes, this is the absolutely BUSIEST week of the year in Orlando. The parks close due to being at capacity, and I remember Epcot on Dec 31st being elbow to elbow (we were on an Illuminations cruise on Breathless). If you are going to be anywhere near Disney, book it asap, and expect traffic if you're driving (we didn't have a car).

Do NOT wait. Hotel deals only sell out as time goes by (unlike airline tickets). I agree about the Swan and Dolphin - we LOVE the location (but how can you not go to Epcot from there, even for an hour or two? :) )

Okay! I feel the need to panic and find a hotel! :goodvibes

What do you all know and think about Buena Vista Suites? We are strongly thinking about booking there. It is always shown on the banner ads here on the DIS? Is it near WDW...DTD? It also has a free b'fast buffet and I have a preteen and a teen that eat alot so hopefully that helps off set the cost.

happymommy...We will not be going in the parks at all those two days but do plan to hotel hop and enjoy all of the beautiful Christmas Decorations. We check in at POR on the first and will deal with the crowds that day I am sure. ;)

Thanks y'all for your help.
