We leave in 12 hours and I am so not ready to go yet! I hope someone is reading tonight and can help me. DD will turn 8 while we are at DL. She informed me tonight that she does not like cake. I was going to order a cake to be delivered on her birthday but I guess that is out. Does anyone have a recommendation of someplace we could go for a special ice cream type treat? We will be at both Disneyland Park and California Adventure the day of her birthday. Is there somewhere there or in Downtown Disney you suggest. Thank you for your help!

The only thing that it is popping into my head is a Volcano at Rainforest. If you don't know, a Volcano is a brownie and ice cream dessert ($12) - 4 or 5 bownies stacked together with scoops of vanilla under and around the tower of brownie. I think it's covered in hot fudge too.

The servers all call out "volcano" as a server brings one to a table.

There are ice cream concessions at both DL & DCA that might work - The one in DL is configured as an old-fashioned ice cream palace & might be able to do a special sundae. The one in DCA is in a "train" in the front of the park, and on a nice day is great to get ice cream & go sit in the sun and watch people wander into the park. Both places have waffle cones, and (if told that it was a birthday, might make something special).

Another alternative is to go to one of the nicer restaurants for a meal, and order a special dessert (and tell the server it's her birthday).

The volcano at Rainforest Cafe sounds like a great choice to me. The RFC is a pretty cool place in itself for an 8 year-old, and getting the volcano there would be a memorable experience.

Just wanted to add my two cents and say don't forget to tell all the CMs it's her B-day. I think at City Hall you can get a pin for her to wear that says,"It's my Birthday." The cm's will do special things for her. While we were there in October we kept running into a little boy who had a B-day pin on. Wow did they make it special for him!

In CA be sure to go to the Tortilla place and get a BAG of warm wonderful fresh tortillas. I'm sure others can post things done for B-day folks.

Have fun!
