Help!! having a shoe squabble with my 16 yr DD

How did you get them to line them all up? We had the nightly shoe scramble in our room.

I think for folks who are A) do it regularly or B) walk long distances in flip flops or C) have a really good tan to the tops of their feet flip flops in the park are fine. Since no one in my family fits those catagories they need to take sneakers.

Only exception, if it looks like it's going to rain while we are in the parks than sandals are it. Love my Teva's. Nothing is makes my family grumpier than walking around in squissy water soaked sneakers.

I have two teenage and one 9 yr old girl. I told them to bring whatever they wanted in shoes but they had to carry them. Okay so we have a formal shot with my two oldest in their Adidas soccer sandals, the gown covered their toes and no one was the wiser, except for my two that giggled through everything! My nine year old had a nice pair of higher heeled flip flops, and I have to admit that I had a pair of Candies flip flops with beads on them! Pack a pair of sneakers for the parks and then let her toes run wild in whatever she wants. They are only young once!

Oh yeah, I always coat myself head to toe with SPF 45. I have a very fair complexion. I live in FL, so it's an everyday thing for me.

I just had to laugh reading all the posts. I am a mother of 3 who has two pair of shoes she wears--flip flops and sneakers. Haven't worn heals since I stopped working 10 years go. I get very upset when my flip flops break. If they are the right kind of flip flops, they are the most comfortable shoes I think one could wear to walk around in. Your feet don't get sweaty, I can slip my feet out when I'm standing in line, and they get a nice tan. LOL!!! They have to be the really good, cloth straps kind of flip flops. Or leather sandal kind. The plastic will leave blisters. I was always the barefoot kind of person anyway. Plus if you have evern noticed, most flip flops mold quite nicely to the owner's feet.

The only problem I see is that some rides may not let her on with flip flops. I haven't been to Disney Parks since I was young, but I have been to many others such as Busch Gardens. I thought they always either stated a warning about loose garments or something.

Anyway, you may not be comfortable in flip flops---but she may.
I vote to let her wear what she wants. If it makes you more comfortable, ask her to just back a back-up pair of sneakers in case she needs them but you won't make her wear them. That way if they break or get lost, you won't waste time trying to buy a new pair.

Mom of four daughters here....DD #2 (16yr old) wore flip flops to every park last month! I warned her that I didn't want to hear it if her feet hurt, and she didn't complain at all and said she was comfortable! So if your daughter is used to flip flops, I vote to have peace & let her wear them!

However, she wore her dressy shoes on Triton's night, but she loves shoes, especially her "BCBG shoes" The last night, we ate at Animator's. She went in jean capri's & flip flops. I almost made her change but then thought I'd let it go. Our table was in the corner, by the kitchen so it wasn't very visable anyway.

I LOVED the photo of the shoes! But those must be the neatest 4 teenagers ever! Our cabin was embarrassingly messy at all times! And we had handicap rooms with plenty of space!

Now I HAVE wondered how in the world people dare dress themselves in the morning without daughters who say "MOTHER, You're NOT wearing THAT, are you?" My DH & I are so pathetic that we now have a hard time buying clothes without them...we've lost all sense of fashion, it seems!

For the park I would bring 2 pairs of sneakers and 1 pair of sporty sandles (for the pool or to wear to the park if u have tough feet).


For the cruise I would bring a pair of good shoes for dinner (u can get right out of them when you leave the restaurant), some casual sandles for walking around the ship, and since you are a teen make sure you bring sneakers for the sporty activities like the Wild side (includes biking), Glow Jam, and 2 on 2.

As far as lining up the shoes in the pic....the four teens girls had their own cabin and realized early on unless they were organized they would never find anything. They kept their shoes lines up nicely the whole week.

And for that million dollar question....yes...they did wear all of them and they even borrowed each others!!!!

Their room steward was funny....he could not believe how many pair of shoes the 4 of them had....he thought they were storing all the shoes for our group of 16!!!!

OMG...this is too funny....

I, too, have a little "Imelda"...and little "Imelda" is brining another little "Imelda" with her on our next cruise.....I'm sure there won't be room for ANYTHING DH and I might bring....guess we'll have to go "clothesless and shoeless" to make room for their clothes and shoes....

Maybe DCL should think about renting storage space on the ships for pre-teens and teens clothes and shoes...................

Hey all you female baby boomers...I can remember wearing platform shoes ALL the time in the 70's! That's all we wore and no tennis shoes. I grew up w/ 3 sisters but now have only 3 boys and they also like the shoes....the expensive boy tennis shoes! Anyway, I am the only female in my house and still have lots of shoes...BUT they are now comfortable (but fashionable)..I have learned over the years and they will too....when they're older and have corns or bunions from years of abuse....Age = Wisdom, right?

Chris......my 14 yo DD id in this "flip flop" mode also. 35 degrees out and she has to wear them to school?!?!?!?!? My DD (11) took 11 pair of shoes for our 3 night land and 7 night Eastern sailing Last Nov. A little hint.......we packed ALL the shoes in a seperate suitcase. Me, I took a pair of nikes, a pair of deck shoes and my aqua socks....nothing else needed for me.
