Help. Gulf of Florida State Campgounds, where to stay. Non FW ?

Just found out we can leave a day early. Looking at staying at a state park between Panama Beach (we intend to go to Shell island) and Destin.

Any comment on these campgrounds for camping? No Cabins are available.

Destin Henderson Beach State park
Love this park. But nothing available right now.

Grayton Beach State Park
Love the cabins here but not available, never tent camped here

Topsail State Park
Never stayed here. Pictures of RV spots look like little privacy. not sure
of tent spots

St Andrews State Park
This is where Shell island is. Never haver been to Panama Beach.

Other Option
Get a hotel in Panama Beach since it is just one night.

We've stayed at both Topsail and St. Andrews. It's been several years since we stayed at St. Andrews, but both campgrounds are great. We have a motorhome, so I can't speak for tent sites but St. Andrews offered more privacy but fewer amenities.

With that said St. Andrews is way closer to Shell Island. Topsail is way closer to Destin. If Shell Island is your destination, I'd suggest St. Andrews.

If you happen to be affiliated with the military, there are some great campgrounds in the area for military.

I think we will try St Andrews. Are main objective is to spend the day on the beach before heading to Orlando. I am looking for privacy, the photos online showed RV sites looked pretty nicely manicured but not so private.

I did see that some of the restrooms will be in maintence soon at St Andrews. That might be a problem if its in the campground area. I am going to try to contact them before we make a reservation.
