OK, first time trip going without the children. We are a young 39 and 41 year old couple. We are going to Orlando for the weekend and want some advice on where to stay for a romantic weekend. We want an adult weekend, so downtown or boat access to downtown a plus. Help, our experience is with children. Any advice appreciated quickly as we are going in a week.

:welcome:

As for a good place to stay without kids, my DH and I would STRONGLY suggest the Swan or Dolphin. We always stay there when we go without the kiddos. Both are much quieter 'on-property' resorts with a nice beach and pools. Plus, if you plan on going to the parks, the walkway to Epcot on the water is beautiful - especially at night!

Have FUN!

Thank you so much. After researching all day, this is actually where I've been looking into. Which is better? Swan or Dolphin? Whats the difference?

We really don't have a prefernce there. We've stayed at both but with the Swan being smaller and having fewer shops and restaurants, it always feels a little less busy. But either way, you really can't lose! ;)

One last thing, you can get almost any answer regarding these hotels on their website...

I would suggest Saratoga Springs or Wilderness Lodge. SSR has boat access to Downtown Disney Wilderness Lodge has boat access to MK.

If cost isn't an issue you might want to try the Polyonesian. My husnabd and I think that is the most romantic hotel in WDW. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the WDW part of our Honeymoon and that was really romantic too. And you can go over to Fort Wilderness and take a carriage ride.

I suggest the BCV that's were we go and love it because the walk to epcot is so easy for a night stroll along with the boardwalk right there also. Have fun. We're going for 4days and 3nights in Jan without the kids. Looking forward to the epcot stops. We're going to taste test and test the drinks without the little ones. :rolleyes1

The funnest part of this to me is, I've never been there with children and this is the first year my husband and I are going with family including our 2 neices (6 and 1 1/2). We're so excited to be able to share it with children this year. I'm sure when we have children of our own we'll be excited when we can finally go alone again! :lovestruc

DH and I did a weekend getaway without our kids, and had a wonderful time. We booked last minute and were only able to get into Port Orleans French Quarter, but totally enjoyed ourselves. We had a king room overlooking the river, and it was very quiet. We were able to take the boat to DownTown Disney where we saw Cirque du Soleil, so worth the expense of the ticket! It was too cold to swim that weekend, but the resort also had horse drawn carriages to snuggle up in. Bus transport to the parks was very easy, and the resort is small enough to navigate without having to walk very far. There is not a sit-down restaraunt right there, you have to go to PO-Riverside for one, if that matters.
