My DH and I are staying at BLT, and need to get to Ft Wilderness. I have reservation for the 8:00 horse backing riding and he has reservations for the 8:30 Segway Back Trail tour. What is the best way to get there on time. What time does the Fort Wilderness internal bus start running. Is it possible to catch the boat that runs from the Contemporary to Ft Wilderness or would it just be easier to take a cab. If cab how must should I budget.

The easiest thing to do would be to take the launch (boat) to FTW. You could either walk to the MK from BLT, take the monorail, or the launch. You will need to check to see what time the MK opens that day. Boats should start running about an hour before park opens.

If you take a taxi, it would drop you off at the Outpost and you'd need to take the internal bus, which should be running at that time.

There is a direct boat launch from CR that goes directly to the Fort Wildnerness area. I don't know specifically what time it starts but I'm sure someone at the front desk would know. Alternatively you could take the monorail to the TTC and then a bus from there to Fort Wilderness. I think the boat takes about 15 minutes. The monorail/bus could take longer. All depends on how long you have to wait for all of the above to arrive.

I can't imagine a cab would cost very much. They are fairly close together.

Yes there is a direct launch from the Contemporary boat dock to Fort. Wilderness. This launch starts at 6:45am!!!

The Segway tour start is a short walk from the boat dock, so no trouble there. Once you get off the boat, follow the sidewalk towards Pioneer Hall. Take a right on the sidewalk just before you get to Crockett's tavern and walk down that sidewalk till you reach Mickey's Backyard Barbecue. That's where the Segway tour starts.

The horseback trail ride starts at the opposite end of the campground, so once you get off the boat follow the sidewalk past Pioneer Hall and on to the Settlement bus depot and take any bus to the Outpost. As far as time, Yellow is fastest, then Purple, then Orange.

Once you get off the bus at Outpost, then you will be right at the trail ride stables.

This is the easiest and fastest way. Some of the other suggestions, just won't work, there is no bus from the TTC to any resort. Back tracking to MK will take longer, especially since the MK>FW boat doesn't start till about 1/2 hour before park opening, so if it opens at 9, it won't work.

That site was correct when first published, but hasn't been updated since.
If you have questions about transportation you are better off asking here, as clkelley said that site hasn't been updated, despite numerous attempts by disboard members.

It took me about 30seconds to think about what BLT stood for and I knew it was not my favourite BaconLettuce and Tomato....LOL....You can also call front desk and they may/can arrange for you to be shuttled there too. We had a breakfast with Mickey and couldn't remember what to do so we called front desk and they arranged it for us.

Actually a cab going "from" Contemporary to Ft. Wilderness will be more than you think. The way the roads are laid out, they exit out of the Contemporary to the left, and then have to take a right and go past the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Shades of Green, then ALL the way around the parking lot and racetrac, then return through the toll plaza, then take a right down Vista Boulevard, then enter the Fort. You can't go directly to the Fort because a portion of World Drive between the Contemporary and Vista Boulevard is one-way only.
