We leave for Disney in less than 2 weeks. We'll be driving straight through from UT County and I was wondering if anyone here could tell me how many hours it took them to go from UT to DL. We drove last year, but the girls had a stomach bug and it took us 8 hrs to get to Primm, NV (lots & lots of stops). Mapquest says a total of 10.5 hours no stops. Just looking for a more practical number so we can figure out what time to leave in the morning.

TIA

I can't remember exactly hour long. We left from St George, UT at around 7-7:30, stopped and had breakfast and then stopped in Primm and did some shopping and made it to HOJO's on Harbor around 3:30pm.

We did the drive from Provo several times before our move. We averaged around 10.5-11 hours to Huntington Beach; Anaheim is about 20 min. closer. Typically we left around 5 am, made a pit stop somewhere in Southern Utah for drive-through breakfast, gas, and potty break (where depended on when we left and our hunger level). Then took a little longer break for lunch at McDonald's in either Baker or Barstow at 11:30 or 12:30 pm (depending on hunger & which city we stopped in), then drove the rest of the way, arriving at around 4pm MST. There's usually one other potty break stop in there as well (so averaging 3 stops per trip). It's really not a bad drive at all.

I live in Springville and on our last trip we left around 5:00am, maybe 5:30am and arrived at our hotel on Harbor at approximately 3:30-4:00pm. I seemed to go much faster due to the early start. I would definately do it again that way.

I drive from North Davis County and last time it took us only 10.5 hours so my guess it will take 9ish hours depending on how mnay stops you make and the traffic flow.

From my experience:
Driving time: Eagle Mountain, Utah, to DL: ~10 hours

Ogden to Las Vegas: ~7 hours of driving
Las Vegas to DL: ~4 hours

(But Ogden is ~1 hour north of Eagle Mountain.)

I always drove the speed limit (~75 mph).

Last August I drove from the Ogden area to DL. It was our first "road trip" with then-DS5 and then-DD4; not knowing what to expect, we stayed one night in Las Vegas.

From my sketchy notes...

Ogden, Utah, to Las Vegas: (~7 hours of driving)
Left Ogden (on a Saturday) at 12:30 p.m. MDT
Arrived in Las Vegas at 7:00 p.m. PDT
- We stopped for a sandwich in Fillmore, Utah (45 minutes?)
- The drive (I-15) through the northwest corner in Arizona is very pretty! (Grand Canyon-esque) :thumbsup2

Las Vegas to DL: (~4 hours of driving time)
Left Las Vegas (on a Sunday) around 12:00 Noon PDT
- There was a lot of traffic in Las Vegas around noon on Sunday
- The traffic (I-15) moved fairly well outside of Las Vegas
- The traffic was light on a Sunday afternoon in Anaheim
- Checked in to the Anaheim Camelot Inn & Suites

On the return trip, to make a long story short, we drove from Victorville, Calif., to Ogden, in 9 hours. (Of course that would be 8 hours to Eagle Mountain.) Add 80 miles (DL to Victorville), and the return trip to Eagle Mountain would be about 10 hours.

LOL.....this sounds like EXACTLY what we always did, other than we leave from Nephi. My DH refuses to drive again, so we get to fly from now on (YAY!!!!)

Last May we drove from Lehi to DL in nine hours...we left at five in the morning and got to Vegas by ten and were in DL by two. We stopped only twice for gas and to switch drivers. It went by rather quickly, the drive home seemed to take forever. But, it was nine hours as well.

Have a great trip!

My dad was born (and is now buried) in Nephi!

We lived in Orem up until about 2 years ago. It's fun to read about everyone's road trips. We never drove when we lived there, we always flew. However, we've made the road trip from Seattle or Portland to Orem many, many times! :headache:

Just wanted to give you a quick head's up on something that helped our trip tremendously this last time. If you're looking for a nice clean place to stop to let the kids play for a while, there is a new outside mall just south of the strip in Vegas that has a really nice kids play place! It's called Town Square Las Vegas. Helped our DS get some energy out to make it the rest of the drive.:yay:

OT: How cool, we moved here to the PNW about 2 years ago from Utah county as well. We lived in Spanish Fork at the time, but my parents are in Provo. I've also lived in Orem as well. We are due to make the drive to Utah from So. King County this summer. Although we're used to long car rides from our DL trips, the extra 210 miles to Provo from here about kills us. :rolleyes2 LOL It's almost right over our tolerance level to do in one day, yet I hate taking the time and money to stop overnight. We've done it both ways. Do you usually do the drive in one stretch or stop somewhere overnight? We'd probably fly this time if I wasn't going to be staying there for a few weeks and can't see renting a car for that long.

We will be driving down soon and I think it will take us much longer....I just found out there are 11 IN-N-OUT Burger Restaurants between my home and DL!:woohoo: YUM!! This is almost as much as a draw for me as DL!!!!

That is one of the reasons I am also driving as well. I can't wait for an In N Out burger and to stop at Trader Joes.

We live in SLC and are planning on spending a night in Vegas at least on the way down. I have an infant and I think a 10 hour drive would be too much for her.

S. S. Columbia - I'm in Ogden, as well. I have to say, though....no driving for us. We've figured out that any more than 6 hours is just not doable for us. I guess we could do it but in the grand scheme of things, it just doesn't make sense for us! I have a friend that is driving down in a couple of weeks, though. She loves driving and wouldn't do it any other way! Not me!!! Put me on a plane!!!!!

Did you know St. George is getting an In n Out? :teeth:

Hi Ogden neighbors ~ we're in Pleasant View. We don't drive either, love flying Jet Blue into Long Beach ~ leaving SLC @ 6:10 am arriving in Long Beach at 7:05 am (CA time) ~ so 4 hrs total leave home @ about 4 am arrive in Long Beach at 8 am UT time. $59 each flight!

I think that eventually we'll fly, but the cost of the flight + transfers from the airport AND taking 4 carseats wasn't worth the time savings. Maybe we'll be rich before the next trip so money won't be an issue. :rotfl2:

Yep same with us! After many fun adventerous road trips to Disneyland we just decided to fly. Yeah it costs more but it is soooooo worth it! Regarless though of how you get to Disneyland the important thing is that you going! Plan on about 10 hrs. of drive time to get there. Have Fun.:yay:

The last time we went, it was with my entire family. 17 all together. My DH drove my mom's mini-van down with myself, my brother, SIL, DD1, niece 6, and nephew 3. He said after that, we were NEVER driving again....lol....darn it.
