I hope this scenario isn't too confusing!

Now that we have received the incentive for purchasing BLT points, I have had to reallocate points from reservations that were already booked prior to our purchase.

MS was great in helping to make the best use of my points, but I will have 9 BWV points that I have to use in my 2009 UY(will not be able to bank them).

We were not planning on staying at BWV during our 2009 UY, but are planning to stay at BLT.

If I book my stay at BLT for December in March, will I be able to reallocate the nine BWV points to the BLT reservation once the 7 month window opens? This will allow me to bank the 9 BLT points to my 2010 UY.

TIA!

As long as there is availability and no wait list you won't have any problem using the BWV points at BLT at 7 months. This is essentially cancelling and rebooking the reservation using points from another resort so if there is a waitlist, you may lose the reservation to the member on that list. If MS allowed members to substitute points into reservations made using the Home Resort priority it basically invalidates the purpose of that priority.

Some have reported that MS has allowed non-home points to be substituted in the past, so it can't hurt to ask - but don't be disappointed if you are not allowed to in this case.

Good luck! Please report back what happens. :)

Thanks so much for your response.

I will keep my fingers crossed that all works out.

I will let you know how I make out, but I won't know until May.

Thanks again!

Because we're attempting to resell some contracts, I recently had MS reallocate the points for several upcoming reservations. What they told me was that since the reservations had been made in the 7 month window in the first place, they could repoint them, but had they been made in the 11 month window, they would have had to been canceled and rebooked. Of course, if you're booking in the 7 month window, you can just go ahead and use whatever points you want anyway....

MS did not tell you completely accurately. IF there are days available, you can sub the points at 7 months regardless of when the reservations were made. However, if there is no availability, you can not them sub 7 month points for a reservation made in the home resort priority window which is likely what they were telling you. While they are more flexible with home resort points in this situation, technically ANY and EVERY sub of points is a cancelation and rebooking.
