Tuesday when I got home I went to get a soda and noticed the fridge seemed a bit warm, well when I opened the freezer the ice creams had turned to soup, the frozen meats were still frozen but the rest of the items were slowly melting. I rent a room in a home, the owner said she was going to fix it but it has not been done yet, so I need help to try to see what I can fix on my own since I have not been able to shop since then (atleast for anything cold or frozen). I can't afford to eat out every day.

Any ideas, things to check, etc. Thanks! The fridge is now warm and the freezer is cool (maybe about as cold as the fridge should be).

OK DH said that if the compresor is running and maybe ice-up, he said to open the freezer and look at the fan and if you see ice on the fan, that is the issue, you need to turn it off and defrost it.

No ice on the fan, nothing at all... =o( Compressor is running though, cool air blowing in the freezer, nadda in the fridge.

:confused3 Maybe the coils need to be cleaned? Sometimes at work ours does this if the vent gets too dusty. Try vacuuming the coils and see if that helps.

We have had this happen a couple of times because our dog sheds a lot and his hair accumulates under the fridge. Vaccumming underneath solves the problem. When this happens to us, the side of the refrigerator (on the outside) is also hot to the touch.

It could also be the compressor is shot. The good thing is that this is the best time of year to buy refrigerators.
