As usual, I've waited until the last minute to plan DS(7)'s birtday party for this coming Saturday. I've done the important stuff like inviting the kids & ordering the cake. And I've downloaded ideas from a few different websites (Birthday Express, for one).

They were all great ideas, but here's my problem. DS has Asberger's Syndrome (high-end Autism), and most of the kids invited are from his social skills counseling group. Which means that these kids won't do well in group games, or anything that takes too much detailed instruction. Most importantly, it can't be anything that gets the kids too riled up or has winners & loosers.

Right now if it is a good day outside, I'm planning on sending them to the playground for an hour, then bring them back to make slime for them to bring home, have a snack and eat cake. But it's not enough.

BUT if it rains, I'm stuck for more ideas. They don't have to do with the Incredibles, but since this only the 3rd party I've planned, I'm short on ideas.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Here are some ideas although i'm not sure how well they will work.

-Make superhero masks or face painting

-They could make capes or special power bracelets with beads that "have powers"

-Maybe watch a short superhero cartoon

-Pull string pinata

-Treasure hunt with simple clues, keep all the kids one group, each clue could be a picture of a place to go or mark things with certain colors. They could collect items to make a craft or snack or something and go back and make the item.

-Maybe get out some clay and they can sculpt a superhero, although some may not like the texture

-Draw pictures of their superhero

-You could have the kids dress up as their favorite superhero or they can make stuff to wear

-Play superhero music from cartoons

Not sure how many of these will work but I hope they will give you some ideas.

Wow! Thanks for all those wonderful ideas! Especially the treasure hunt idea. What a great way to find the items needed for a craft. I like the idea of making a superhero mask or drawing.

You're wonderful! :flower:
