My son will turn 8 3 weeks after our cruise. He is hoping to go with the 8-12 year old kids program. Does anyone have experience with this? How strict is the DCL about ages? He was not too happy with with the pictures of the 5-7 year olds playing with princesses! Any advice or info. is appreciated.

Don't fret a bit. The CM's are more than happy to do what it takes to make sure your DS has a blast. Yes, the "official" line is if a child is within a month of the next age group, he/she can move up. So your DS is well within that.

We were on the Wonder in the spring and saw CM's moving kids up on a trial basis to make them happy. The parents didn't even ask, it was the CM's idea.

They really want to make sure you have a great trip. Have fun!

DCL is very strict about moving kids up to an older group. The rule is that you must have the birthday within 30 days of the sailing to move up to the next group. THus, a 7 year 11 month old can participate in the 8-9 group. Just tell the CM when you register the child. The groups are 8-9 and 10-12 in the Lab. Since you are within 3 weeks, there will be no problem.

They are more flexible about moving kids down to be with siblings or whatever
