Hi! We're taking our son for the first time to WDW, and we have no idea of where a good place to eat. Our son has severe food allergies to chocolate and grapes, and we're looking for restuarants that don't serve chocolate.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the Dis, unusual kiss. We are glad you found us. :wizard:

You may want to check out the menus on our site, here. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/disneydining.cfm

As a mother of a child with a peanut allergy I can assure you, Disney takes these issues very seriously and they will go above and beyond ensure there is no cross contamination. Usullay they will even send a chef out to talk to you before ordering.

Enjoy your trip and try not to worry. :goodvibes

Hmm allergies? I was going to suggest the Crystal Palace as they have a very good buffet and you can dine with the Charectors as well, but they most likely have chocolate there. On the Disney website there is a link for those with disabilites. I'm not sure if allergies qualify but I'm sure they would be able to direct you to a place to answer you question, if the Dis'ers here don't already know that answer.

No chocolate is a tough one. Is the allergy severe enough that chocolate can't even be in the kitchen or would it be enough to talk to a cook and have them make sure that the same bowl, or pan or knife will not touch chocolate?

If not Nine Dragons and Marrakesh in Epcot do not have any chocolate on their menu. Obvisously menus change and you would have to double check.

It's severe enough that his food can not be made in the same dish that chocolate has been in. He had a reaction from a pan that was put through the dishwasher that still had traces of chocolate on it. I'm thinking I am going to have to bring my own food for him the week we are in WDW.

First, when you make reservations, make sure the allergy is noted on each one. Also, ask them for the contact information for the person in each of the parks who handles guests with food allergies. They will help you determine what can be done. I have a friend with a wheat allergy and each park provided her with a list of all the carts and counter service locations that served something gluten free. I imagine they can help you, too.

In general, sit-down restaurants are very good at working with food allergies. You will be given the contact information for each restaurant and you can call 48 hours before your meal and speak with the chef. They will cook seperate batches of food in cleaned pans to avoid cross-contamination. If you need the pan bleached or double washed, I think they would do that. They really take food allergies seriously.
