I need some help. Planning a trip for December. Stayed at All Star Sports last March and my family loved the choices at their food court for breakfast and snacks. DD and I had a nightly ritual, after a day at the parks, of cones or sundaes at their hand-dipped ice cream stand. We are debating POP Century versus Carribbean Beach Resort. Are the food courts the same? Can we find our ice cream at both? :confused3

I found the selection at CBR much more limited than at Pop. I also felt that the selections at CBR were geared more toward Caribbean food, where as Pop seems to be a mix of everything.

My DD's age 14 at time looved the Pop food....I was impressed too especially when compared to the AKL and SSR food courts...Pop was much larger and had more choice...perhaps checking out the menus would help you decide......allears and the dis have menus....

CBR food court is not withing walking distnace if you are far off. Pop can be walked in a few minutes from any section. The Pop food court is the best. I loved the Asian section plus the Frozen Coke
Lexi:badpc:

We have never stayed at POP, but I have always thought the menu seemed like fun compared to the other values....we have stayed at AS Sports and moderates (including CBR).

If you haven't noticed by looking at the menus...the value food courts are cheaper than the moderates + you cannot use TIW card at moderates food courts, but you can at the values...(this is a real bummer for us). All that having been said, in general it seems the food courts are a better value at the value resorts - I guess that is in keeping with the value level of service.

We liked the food at ASSports the best, especially because we love AS Sports quesadillas. I hope you tried one while you were there!!!! They are just so yummy and come with sour cream and a black bean and corn salsa..............yummy!!!! I know you didn't ask about AS Sports quesadillas, but I have to talk about them.

There are NO quesadillas at CBR and that is the ONLY thing we would change about that resort!!!!! At CBR, ds (9) thought the fact that CBR puts the kids meals in a bucket was absolutely awesome!!!! We were just there this past December and the first thing he did after dinner was head to the beach with his bucket and shovel and start digging! That is a wonderful memory which I just wouldn't trade! Even though he will be an "adult" (by Disney standards :confused3 ) this summer, I just know he will order a kid's chicken nuggets bucket.

But you really want to know about ice cream....we just aren't big sweets eaters and unfortunately we didn't take notice of the ice cream selections in the food courts. In recollection, though, it seems like everywhere you go at Disney World SOMEBODY is eating an ice cream. I just can't imagine them not having ice cream, but it may not be hand dipped.

We only get ice cream once or twice a trip and it has always been in a park. If it is hand dipped you like, then MK's Main Street Ice Cream Parlor is neat and the kids Mickey cones come with 2 pieces of chocolate as Mickey ears.... Also, we like the Mickey Bars and Itzakadoozies in the ice cream carts. When ds was little they had Simba Paws in the AK carts, but we haven't noticed them lately.

I love the POP food court. The food was good , and varied. We could always find something that we wanted there. I liked being able to pop down and get breakfast before we left for the park.

The food court was one of the things keeping me from being gung ho about staying at Beach Club. That's how much we enjoyed it. (and also speaks to how much food dictates our vacation!)

We liked the Pop food court ..besides it also had a better refillable mug area....like frozen slushies and also apple juice included.

You can also use the tables in wonderful card in Port Orleans French Quarter.

Thanks for all your input. Helps with our decision. It's good to hear someone elses choice is food driven. I have to ask though, being an ice cream girl, what is an Itzakadoozie????:wave2:

An Itzakadoozie is a very long thin fruity popsicle swirl. I guess that is how I'd best describe it :confused3 Picture the long thin swirly suckers they sell - now make it a popsicle....Anyway, ds seems to like them.

We've not been to the food court at CBR but we were really impressed with the food court at POP. Of all the resorts we've stayed at including several deluxes, I thought it was the most varied, consistent and good food and beverage options. I would so recommend it! ::yes::

I've never stayed at POP but have been very jealous of the food offerings in their food court. The breakfast wraps sound delish!

They also offer "blue plate specials" for dinner each night. I've heard the food is wonderful.

We stayed at CBR once and wasn't impressed with the food court. It was okay, but nothing special. I think POP has the most variety.

We have had two bad experiences at the CBR food court. The first time we went around 1:00 in the afternoon--lunch time--and only two stations were open limiting our choices a great deal. We went this past September to give it a second shot and I had a cheeseburger. Let's just say, I would have preferred going to McDonald's and I hate McDonald's. We've never gone to the Pop food court.

I think all food courts are about the same - mediocre at best. Pop was eh. CBR was eh. It seems like there were more stands at Pop, but CBR had "real meals" and burgers and pizza and salad, just like Pop, IMHO. To me, all of that food is just "garbage in, garbage out" anyway.

I did notice a soft-serve machine at CBR. You buy the cup at the register and fill it yourself, or so I overheard.

We recently stayed at POP and all the +++ others wrote are true- fresh, varied, ect. My only issue was the LINES... it took forever to get through, and not at peak times... food cold by the time we sat down... each time we went... not just an isolated issue...
