HELP!! Flip Flops... Good Idea for walking parks?

Wide feet reccommendations? I still vote for Tevas -- but get men's style. I had to buy men's style because I have bigger feet, but I also need wide shoes, and I found that if I bought a pair of men's style that was 1 size smaller than my women's size, they worked out perfectly. Plenty wide enough, just a little bit longer than I needed, so lots of room, and I got the "convertible" style, so you can take off the ankle strap and turn them into slides. They're not your run-of-the-mill $3.00 flip-flops, but I definitely think they're worth the try!

Your comments reminded me of when my husband, who has very small but wide feet, complained that his were not comfortable. When I looked down at them, I noticed he had on my Teva's. So I agree totally that trying the men's for wide feet should work fine.

I have wide feet, too. I've been wearing the Nike sandals (similar to Tevas, but with the straps in different places). This is one of those "your mileage may vary things". The same shoes that I love kill my daughter's feet.

I used to be a flip-flop person back in the day... tried some on yesterday and they felt weird between my toes.

BTW, since I saw the header for this thread that line from the Jimmy Buffet song keeps running through my head... everybody together now! "I blew out my flip-flop...."

I had been looking everywhere for a pair of comfortable sandals for the parks for my DD. I bought a pair of Skechers navy and pink sandals from a local store - a name I had never heard of but believe they are a US company. They seem to be really soft and look ideal - they worked out at about $20 -US size 3. Have I got a good deal and has anyone had any of these for park walking before?

I also bought a pair of navy and green Speedo toe post sandals for her - these would be good for the AS pool and waterparks but not for the parks, I think - price of these over here - about $9.

If you normally carry a bag in the park, it might be a nice footsie treat to take the flip-flops along for a break now and then from the tennies. If you do wear the flops, don't forget to sunscreen the tops of your feet !!!

I think it all depends on your feet and what they are use to. I have narrow feet with a high arch and Easy Spirit tennis shoes are what I wear to the parks. I break them in at work where I am on my feet all day and I never have a problem.
Flip Flops would kill my feet!!

At the REI outlet store they sometimes run specials on Tevas. I got mine for $40. Right now they have some super deals on men's http://www.rei.com/online/store/Cat...01&langId=-1&storeId=8001&categoryId=29368570 but not so much for women. But they change their listings frequently.

Flip-flops NO!!!!! You will recieve major blisters between your toes.

Sandals YES!!!! They are a lot more comfortable, just make sure they are broken in. Anyway it is summer let your feet enjoy the season too.

i just got back and recommend sneker, they are the most comfortable because you dont realize how much walking you really do, and standing, i wore flip flop type sandles one day and had to go back to the hotel to change to sneakers, thats the best way to go

I honestly did not read EVERY post bus as far as a safety issue goes, I think it could cause concern on the attractions that use a moving walkway such as the people mover of the haunted mansion. Anything that states the floor is moving at the same speed as your vehicle.

I was in the park recently and a girl was carrying her flip flops and security asked her to put her shoes back on as they were concerned for her safety and comfort.

I would definately vote not flip flops

Another vote for tennis shoes. I have a wonderful pair of airwalk sandals and wore them one day to the parks and regretted it. I also am a birkenstock wearer but not to the parks. Stick to the tennies.

...when you're going to ride Kali of Splash Mountain? Do any of you take "boat shoes" in your bags to slip into for these rides, then back into the tennies later? Nothing worse than sloshy socks & shoes.

Last year I got Nike Straprunners for the first time--loved them. I also wear Tevas, and for sneaks love my New Balance Walkers. I alternate shoes, sandals, and always wear the sandals for Kali and/or the water parks.

It truly depends on your particular feet. Shoes that most people find the most comfy such as New Balance, Nike, and Reebok, make my feet really hurt after a lot of walking. However, when I wear my Born sandals (found at large dept. stores like Dillards), I can walk forever without a problem. I asked the doctor why this is so, and he explained that it all has to do with your arch. My arches have fallen, so a flat, good quality sandal is what I need. However, for high arches, the New Balance or the Birkenstocks are a good choice. I love the Born shoes, but like the Birkenstocks, they need some breaking in before they feel absolutely heavenly on your feet! I personally don't see how flip flops could be good for anyone's feet, but I do envy those who can wear them!

Here's another vote for Tevas and Birkenstocks! The only complaint I would have against the Birks is that I wear the double strap w/ heel strap and sometimes a little pebble or something will get into your sandle and you have to stop and shake it out. I call it "Birkenstock rock"!
I wear a size 7 1/2 and have a wide foot and never have any problem w/ Teva's, the adjustable straps are great, sometimes my feet are swollen by the end of a long day at the parks but you can just reach down and adjust the velcro.
Um, this is kind of gross but has anyone ever noticed a bad smell from the Tevas? Not just a stinky feet smell but a strong, peculiar odor? I had to get a new pair last year after having my first pair for just a year because they got funky! Sorry if that was TMI but I wonder if it was just me!

they do have an arch built in so are more comfortable than most flip flops. I prefer to wear either those or my Nike Straprunners to the park. It seems that whatever comfortable sneakers I wear, it is inevitable that I get a sore little toe from rubbing all day. I have tried moleskin etc but still have problems.
