Help finding a good quality digi on a budget

Costco is a large warehouse membership store. They have anything you could probably want. ITs like Sam's Club (if you know what that is).

You may not have Costco near you, so that would make it hard to buy the camera there. They dont have it online (I just looked). www.costco.com - in case you want to look at what they offer.

Does it make that much of a difference if I don't get an ISO800 camera?

Also does anyone have experiences with their canons/nikons that would like to share them so I can get a better feel for the cameras?

I shot my sons soccer game on it and it came out pretty nice!

Did you also take pictures at your sons soccer game? If so how is the camera for stopping the action? Does it blur? Was it indoor or outdoor soccer?

Basically, the higher the ISO, the better light sensitivity it has. So when you take pictures in low light, more background will be captured (provided you set the camera to the higher ISO).

In terms of high ISO cleanliness, nothing beat Canon (although Nikon comes a very close second on some of their products, but definitely not their point and shoot).

Once I decide on a camera, my mind will change. But the Nikon Coolpix L3 caught my eye because it was $200. I mean I would love to get a Canon Digital Elph but they are more expensive, so... but I also saw another dis member's pic with a Kodak Z740 I think and that looked pretty good. I don't know I'm starting to get all confused.

I bought the A610 last month from buydig.com for $218 - it's now down to $214. It's 5 MP and it seems to be very popular along with the A620 - I've read very few negative reviews about these cameras. I was only able to play with it for a few days before I let my brother borrow it, along with my Canon underwater housing, for his trip to Belize so I can't give you too much input since I really haven't had a chance to use it yet - I do love the swivel LCD though. The S2 looks like a great camera also but I was looking for something a little more compact and the underwater housing for the S2 was much more expensive but I continue to drool over it (and the S3)!!

For me it wasn't worth spending the extra $ on the A620 - 5 MP is fine for my purposes.

I'm a Kodak hater due to my bad experiences with Kodak products from paper, film camera, digitla point and shoot and their pro dSLR, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me. But to me, Kodak products are not worth the money they are charging their customers.

We were talking about high ISO before, with Kodak, forget about using ISO higher than 100, it's unuseable (now this is an objective, unbiased, comparison versus Nikon and Canon)
