HELP! DVC through Disney or resale?

I'm so confused! One minute I'm convinced I'm going thru Disney to buy. Next minute I am convinced resale is better!!! How do I decide???

As I've read many, many times on these boards, buy where you most want to stay, I did.

Certainly, buying where you want to stay is an important criteria. . .but it may not be the top criteria for you. For us, DVC provides enough flexibility that we don't have any issues with where we want to stay. We love VWL, but if our home resort of SSR is all that is available when we're set to travel, then it's okay with us. Thus, the "owning where you stay" criteria wasn't as important to us as the extra 12 years on our purchase. Naturally, to some, owning where they love staying for the next 36 years is a more attractive benefit than the extra years. Still others prefer going the slightly cheaper rate that most resales afford in exchange for reduced years, while on the other hand, the extra cost is worth 12 more years.

Hmm. . .seems like the main issue is how important is the extra 12 years to you? Only you can decide that, and when you do, I think you'll have your answer.

While I am a big supporter of purchasing resale, you do need to have lots of patience as you wait to pass ROFR and then for closing and then to actually get into the Disney system.

I won't even get into if you don't pass ROFR.....
