This is the first time I have had a cleaning service clean my home. It's owned by one woman and then a couple of people are here doing the cleaning. Today is the first big cleaning and then they will come every 2 weeks. I think they are doing a great job! They've already been here 4 hours and still have to do floors and everything downstairs.

So do I tip the women actually cleaning? I feel like if I give it the owner, then she'll take a cut when these nice ladies are the ones who did all the work. How much is appropriate and is this customary to do. Thank you for any help!

I used to clean and many times we'd be given a tip. It was always such a nice unexpected thing...especially for a young single mom bouncing back from divorce. Even if it was $5, that (back then anyway) was milk, bread & pb for a week.

They usually gave it to us, or left it on the counter. Our boss let us keep whatever we received, and he was very honest and gave it right to us if they gave it to him. If it was all in one envelope or otherwise not stated, and we were on a team, we split it evenly.

I guess it depends on what their company's policy is, but I would give it to them when they finished.

How much would be up to you & how many people are there.

We always gather our change throughout the trip and throw in a ten the day we're leaving along with a note saying thank you.
