Well I just got off the phone with disney I was upgrading to a 8 day park hopper and we just going to buy AP's when we go down in May after our SSR contract closes so we get the discount.

Here is my problem. We are going to SSR from Jan 1st to 5th then to AKL for 5th-8th. We have DDP for SSR. I put the 8 day PH on the AKL so we could get the DDP for those 3 nights also. But CM just told me that I can't use the park hopper until the 5th when we check into AKL. So that doesn't work. I am stuck on what I can do. We LOVE the DDP for 80$ a day and not worry about prices is nice. How can we do this. We want the DDP for AKL also but need tickets before that.

I though we could just get base tickets for AKL and PH's for SSR and use them both and just upgrade to regular AP's and when we get the discount upgrade to PAP's but they said you can't use two different tickets. Any help please thanks very much.

yeah, i must have missed my wheaties this morning...is that mandarin chinese? :wave2:

Sorry, We want the DDP for the AKL 5th-8th stay but we won't have tickets for the SSR stay 1st-5th if we do a package with AKL( tickets won't start until 5th). Is there anyway to get the DDP and still get tickets for the SSR stay?

I'm not sure if I really understand the question, but here goes -

A points stay at any DVC does not need a themepark ticket purchase to get the DVC-Dining Plan.

So if your SSR stay is on rented points from another Owner, or your own points from your new contract, you would not need themepark tickets to purchase the DVC-Dining Plan, just call MS (or have the Owner call if it is a rental) to add the DVC Dining Plan at least 1 Business day before your arrival.

Your stay at AKL, is not (yet) a DVC stay, even if you traded DVC points for the AKL. To get the DDP here, (I am not sure, since I have only stayed DVC the last 4 years), I know you need at least 1 days ticket for everyone in the room, even if your already have tickets or APs. You may also have to have purchased through CRO, but of this I am not certain.

Hopefully WMD, or HBC or DianeS or one of the Carols will pop over and answer this definitavely.

Hope that helps (somewhat).

This is almost as complex as the ROFR formula!

Have you thought about doing the DDP for your days at SSR and just buying the annual passes outright?

The only other option I can think of would be to reduce your AKL tickets to 1-day passes (which I think is the minimum you need to buy in order to add the DDP to a cash reservation), and then hold onto those 1-day passes for future use or a future upgrade.

The DDP and tickets (whether they are hoppers or annual passes or whatever) are completely independent at DVC resorts.

Here is what you need to do:

Call MS. For your SSR stay, ask them to add the DDP to your reservation. This is easy, will take two seconds, and will be done. You will pay for the DDP at check-in. You will only pay for the number of days you are staying at SSR.

Next, call CRO and add DDP to your stay at AKL. Again, you will pay at check-in. Again, you will only pay for the number of days you are AKL. Only buy 1-day PH ticket instead of 8.

If you treat this as two separate trips (pretend you are going two different months, for example), then it is really easy. The down-side is that you will just have extra key cards, and having all of the different cards can be cumbersome.

As for the tickets, do those entirely seperate from the DDP. When you arrive in the World, go to Guest Relations in DTD and they will take care of switching everything over.

Hope this helps.

tjkraz,Thats what I thought I could do, I am bringing my parents down in May but I don't really want to have to pay for NON expiration tickets if I don't have too, you know. And we already have it for SSR but not AKL

So those are my best opitions huh? I guess maybe we just don't get to get it this time.

3disneykids, I just didn't want to have to pay for two sets of tickets, The extra days isn't want kill you in price its the 1 couple of days and I would have to do that TWICE :badpc: . I really don't want that.

okay here's what we'd probably do:
check into AKL first because you can buy 8 day tickets for a 5 night stay and they will still be good for another 3 days and do the dining seperaely for each resort as the other posters have suggested.-As long as you can work out the days you'd be all set this way.

I'm assuming that you are renting or using pts for SSR and booking regular through Disney for AKL.

JMLBRATS: Those are the dates, The World is PACKED FULL We were lucky to get these dates. So I can't change them. If I could have changed them I wouldn't be moving half way through the trip.

Okay, sorry, when I first read your post, I saw the May part and thought that's when you were going. I have to think about this one some more...

First - if purchased from Disney - you are in the system and using points for your SSR stay - then you can purchase APs at the discount. You do not have to wait until the contract closes as long as Disney has given you an account number and points. Your best bet is to purchase APs, then add DDP a la carte to your SSR stay. For the AKL stay, only buy a 1 day basic ticket with your MYW package and use your APs instead. (You can always save the unused 1 day MYW ticket and apply it towards renewal fees later)

If you do not have your DVC points and member ID yet because you did not buy directly from Disney your options are not quite as simple:

If you are staying at SSR and AKL by paying cash, you can not link the reservations and use the same tickets with the dining plan. Each resort reservation is considered a separate transaction and you have to purchase the whole room+dining+tickets MYW package.

You can, however, purchase one day tickets with any MYW package and still get the dining plan. Pre-DVC we did something like this - we purchased 10 day no-expiration parkhopper plus tickets and stayed 7 days on a MYW = dining package. We took two more 7 day trips with Dining by just buying 1 day tickets for the MYW packages and using the no-expiration tickets for most of our park visits. (I acually still have one plus visit left on those tickets).

Your other option is to go ahead and buy annual passes now, without the discount, and just get 1 day tickets with your MYW packages at both SSR and AKL.

Disney makes their $$ off the first days of parkhopper passes. They make it very difficult to get around this cost if you don't have an AP.

If you purchase a park-hopper and plan to only use some days now and apply the remaining balance to an upgraded ticket - be aware that Disney will take off the first days of use and only credit you for the difference in price between last days of use - which tends to be almost nothing.

So if we get a 1 day park hopper and don't use it on this trip I could use towards AP's when we go down in may? and just buy an 8 PH for this stay. Do I have to get the no expiration? We bought an SSR resale.

Yes, but make sure to keep the 1 day ticket unused for park admission (you can still use it for dining). You don't have to do no-expiration because the usage period does not start until the ticket's first use. If your SSR stay is first, do the 8-day ticket with that MYW package at SSR and then just do a 1 day with your MYW at AKL. :thumbsup2

Whatever hope you have a great vacation.

Thanks StarBox, They said it would be on my "Key to the world card" Does that matter or should I ask for it to be on the paper ones?

It should be fine on your Keys to the World card, and probably sturdier. You may want to ask at check-out jsut to make sure policy has not changed, but we've used old KTTW cards with leftover admission many times.

This is excellent advice! :)
