Hi All,

This is my first post here and first trip to Disney World as a family. So please excuse me if this subject has been brought up before. ;)

We have a large family, there are 7 of us, dh, myself, and 5 children ages 12, 11, 8, 5, & 2.5 (this will be their ages as of our time of planned Disney vacation).

1- Is their hotel accomodations for a family our size? Or will we have to break up into 2 rooms? What other options do we have? We would like to stay on site!

Thank you so much :)

We too have the same size family. All of my children are now adults but we started going to WDW when the oldest was 11 and the youngest was 3.

If you can afford it, your best bet is a 2 bedroom villa at Old Key West. OKW is part of the Disney Vacation Club and you can pick up a lot of information on the DVC boards on this site. The 2 bedroom can sleep 8. It has a washer and dryer and kitchen.

There are other DVC resorts that will accommodate 8, but OKW will have the largest rooms.

You can rent points, which I understand would be cheaper than going through Central Reservations, and since you apparently know when you want to go you should look into this asap.

There are also family suites available at All Stars, but I don't know if they accomodate 6 or 8.

As long as your youngest is under the age of three, you could fit into a room that holds six. Your choices there could be an All Stars Family Suite (Linda will need to post her photos of those, they look nice), Ft Wilderness Cabin, some of the Coronado Springs suites (I think some hold 6, some hold 5).

The DVC two bedroom villas hold 8 and like lizanne said, OKW has the largest rooms. Including a full sized washer and dryer and full sized kitchen. One king bed, two queen beds and one queen sleeper sofa. Two bathrooms, one with a stand alone shower and jacuzzi tub. You might want to check out the DVC Rent/Trade Boards to find out about renting a reservation from a member.

You could get connecting rooms at a value resort (that would give you four double beds) or a moderate resort (also four double beds, but the pools have more theming and slides).

You can always stay off site. Check out vrbo.com. (Vacation rental by owner.) You will find lovely homes, with their own pools, for so much less than staying in a hotel room. Then you and DH can have the privacy of your own room, and everyone will have more room to spread out. Go visit Windsor Hills too. Their pool is awesome!

With a family your size, and if you want to stay on site.....you need to do the Villas or 2 rooms. There are some good choices on the villas....Wilderness Lodge (Close to MK), Beach Club/Boardwalk (close to Epcot/MGM), Old Key west/Saratoga (close to Down town Disney). Each on has its good points. I have a family of 6 and are trying the Wilderness lodge this year. THey are expensive, but you could try to rent points from a DVC member as a decent option.

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) last Sept. (2006)

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

:welcome: to the DIS.
There are many friendly, helpful members on these boards.
I hope you will find them as helpful as I have.

Have fun planning your Disney vacation!:wizard:

If you are looking for the least expensive option, I would get 2 connecting rooms at a value. That gives you 4 beds, w tvs, 2 bathrooms. The suites at ASMU fit 6 and have a kitchenette but are more than 2 rooms.

Just an FYI

For comparison, the price of a Family Suite is $9-11 more then 2 Standard Rooms, or $13-15 less the 2 Preferred Rooms, depending on season.

Also a fridge is included in AS Suite.

Fridges cost $10 a night to rent when staying at a value . Don't forget the Queen size bed, a coffee pot and microwave are also in Family Suites.

We have a family of 6 and just got back from the All star Music resort. We had reserved 2 connecting rooms(we had those in 2005), but they moved us into a suite. It was really nice and we had plenty of room. I really liked the kitchen area, too.
