We are on the Wonder to Alaska end of June and they canceled our best of Skagway and Juneau excursions and I was wondering if people had recommendations for both. Thanks

What were the excursions? What are you interested in and what ages?

ETA: Are you looking for a new DCL excursion or generally something to do?

For Skagway, we are renting a jeep and driving to the Yukon.

As a backup, We’ve also got a reservation with Float Skagway - for a short hike and float down a river.

For Juneau, we’ve got a DCL excursion booked - explore Juneau and Mendenhall.

We did the whales and science adventure in Juneau and everyone from the 2yo to the 69yo enjoyed it

We did the round trip train in Skagway and then walked around the port a bit and the train was also enjoyed by the whole group

It was 2018, but we did the Yukon Expedition:
Disney SW31 explore Yukon, lunch, sled dogs, White Pass railroad
Carcross, Yukon and Frazier,BC

in Juneau we used Alaska Shore Excursions for a helicopter tour and glacier walk.

Same thing is happening on Royal Cruise Lines😢 I think the problem is with the excursion vendors. You can book directly with a lot of the vendors but not sure it will help.

In Skagway we did White Pass Railroad in the morning (Booked through Disney but you can book independently) and Zip Lining Grizzly Falls booked through Alaska Shore Tours in the afternoon. Enjoyed them both very much. In Juneau we did a whale watching in the morning with Rum Runner charters and then explored Mendenhall Glacier on our own in the afternoon taking a taxi back to the port. Stopped at Tracy's Crab Shack for a beer and crab legs before heading back on board. Great day!

In Juneau we highly recommend the tours through DCL run by Gastineau guiding - Alaska Whales & Rainforest Trails, Alaska Whales & Science Adventure and Alaska Whales & Photo Safari - low passenger counts (max 14), great little boats with huge windows that all open and great guides and boat captains! We’ve been out with them on 3 separate trips now and they are always fantastic.

I second this recommendation! We have done their tours twice now and they are fantastic!

We did the same in in Skagway last year. They actually had a Jeep shortage so we got a truck, which was no big deal. Unfortunately, we couldn't go into Canada due to COVID, but we drove to the "Welcome to Alaska" sign and a little bit past it. The US & Canada border crossings are (I think) about 7 miles apart due to the geography, so there's a little bit of a no man's land in-between. We fully plan on sailing to Alaska again in the next few years and would absolutely rent a car again to finally make it up to Emerald Lake.

Juneau - booked a whale watching & Mendenhall Glacier tour through Alaska Tales. Saw a ton of whales and even a breaching calf. Smaller group count, nice boats, really friendly tour guides.

We booked everything third party and had a great time. Wouldn't hesitate to do the same again!

Yes! Planning to go to Carcross and Emerald Lake, but likely not all the way to Whitehorse.

My understanding is that you just need to have ArrivCAN set up for the border crossing.
Thanks.
Stupid question. Do you need to retest for Covid before you cross back into the US (Alaska)?
