Here is the limits:

1. We can fly after 4pm on 4/16/05 (sat).
2. We can fly early on 4/17/05 (sun).
3. We can fly out of PHF or ORF.
4. We leave on 4/23/05 anytime (sat).
5. We can't spend more than $400 total!

We need to get a car rental for less than $100!!!

Ok, so I need your help!

Here's my big secret strategy. Well, I got it from a discount travel info book.

Go to Orbitz.com and put in your dates and click airports within 80 miles. Whatever comes up lowest go to that airlines website and check there. You usually get more options and possibly another $20 less airfare.

For the car I would go to mousesavers.com and just try code after code after code. :badpc:

Our family is usually the lowest airfare on the plane, hotel, etc. My husband laughs that I will spend all that time (can take hours, days) to save another $10. But hey, that is 2 more caramel, hot fudge sundaes at Gihardelli :mickeybar (spelling?).

Good luck! PM me if you don't have the time to research, I love doing it.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I guess I had gotten my hopes up, since I had priced our trip in October for $400 r/t. Now, I see OUTRAGEOUS prices for similar flights...(just earlier in the year).
I have even looked at flying into Tampa....
I'm still trying, scared to look at any other site except Orbitz.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this late in the spring break season...not a chance..well close Southwest has a $224 per person flight but rental car at $100 might be a trick...

OK...kept looking you can fly from Norfolk to Tampa for a decent rate depending on when your return date is???

Alright. Right now I have found a trip for $393 total. This is the best I have found...and it IS under the $400 mark.

Now for car rental.

I hope you jumped on those tickets. That's great for that time of year.

I just wanted to add about the car that I tried last week to get a car for my boss for Easter and the cheapest was $300 for 4 days. :sad2: Cab may be cheaper?

I am about to book them now.
The thing is, we need to visit DH's grandparents in Ocala...hence the car rental...

Ok, here is where I stand.

Fly into Tampa r/t for $393
Rent car for $113 for entire trip....

How is that?
I'm not even flying into Orlando. Is it worth it to pay more and not have to drive from Tampa?

Did you already book the Tampa flight? I just looked on travelocity and found ORF to MCO Apr. 16-23 for $203.80 per ticket ($407.60 total) on Northwest. I know I'd personally rather pay the extra $14 total in order to fly in and out of MCO instead of TPA.

I think that rental car rate sounds good. I'd go with it!

Good luck!

LOL. That's so funny, I was JUST about to try travelocity! DH and I were sitting here trying to remember the name...!

Oops, I just realized that your $113 car rental rate is based on picking it up at Tampa. I just checked Budget to see what you could get at MCO. It was $140 total for an economy car. Not too bad, though there may be a little better rate out there. I'll look a little more here. :earseek:

Actually, I found car rental trhough EZ Rent A Car for $100! Not sure how reliable they are...but it IS cheap!

Also, the best deal that works for DH and myself is the $210 r/t p/p to Orlando on Sunday morning through Orbitz.

Travelbug, what time was that flight leaving (the one through travelocity) for Sat? I didn't see that...

It was leaving at 4 something on the 16th. It was not a nonstop, however. It was by way of Detroit, believe it or not. Oh well, sometimes a weird itinerary is worth it for a good price! ;)

I'll go back on travelocity and see if it's still there.

Well, that $203 itinerary on travelocity has disappeared. Don't you just love how fleeting the airfares can be? Now you see it, now you don't. :3dglasses

Sounds like you and DH have a good set of arrangements. Good for you! Have a great time planning and anticipating. Only one month to go! :sunny:
