Well, tests!!! Some background, our family has been battling a bug for about 15 days. DH had the bug on Saturday and seemed to feel better on Sunday. He was on a business trip Monday and Tuesday. Last night he felt really good, but earlier in the day he had some cramps in his belly. We went to bed and he woke up at about 12:30 am in pain. I told he he should call the Dr. in the morning. Well, he was VERY sick last night and called the Dr. this morning. He was feeling like he couldn't drive, so I loaded the kids in the car and took him to the Dr. We waited in the car and Dh returned an hour later saying he needed to go see a surgeon. We went to that Dr.s office and that Dr. has sent him for an ultrasound and blood work. This Dr. feels that it is still the bug, but DH is doubled over in pain from the cramp in his stomach. Dh sent me home with the kids and will call back when he hears something. What a day!! If anyone know what this might be, can you please respond!! Thank You!!

UPDATE---all the tests came back neg. He just has the same virus that he had on Saturday. Thanks for all of the support!!

Those were the things I was thinking as well!!

can also be a very bad bug. i had a flu a few years ago that landed me in the er with terrible stomach pain (doubled over, could not walk, beyond dehydrated). ended up getting an i.v. to stop the stomach pain so that i could start taking in liquids by mouth. it was like a terrible cycle-stomach hurt so bad i could not take anything in which caused stomach to hurt worse. ended up taking over a week to go from clear liquids to very light foods.

hope he starts to feel better.

Could be the stomache virus thing that was going around this summer.

My dd got sick on a Sunday, with chills, fever and a bad stomache ache. By Wednesday she was doubled over. Took her to Urgent Care and they did blood work and urine sample and found no infection. They gave her some pain medicine for the cramping. If things didn't get better we had to come back the next day. I took her back Thurs afternoon and they did an ultra sound and she saw a surgeon.

The surgeon told me he didn't think it was an appendicitus, but something he is seeing more and more of and it is a stomache, intenstine irration, from uncooked meat from fast food resturants.

My dd slept from Wed-Sat nite, just waking up to take liquids and her medicine. On Sat nite it finally passed thru and she couldn't leave the toilet. I then had to go to Walmart and get medicine to stop the diahrria.

I talked to other people and they had the same symptoms, 5 days of pain and the 6th day it finally pushes through. Chills, nausious, stomache cramps.

Disney Doll, I do not know. Ihave been sleeping upstairs with the kids so I do not hear (or smell) what is going on in the bathroom. I guess I will not win any wife of the year awards.

OhMari, What an ordeal!! I am hoping that this does not happen to DH. I want this thing, what ever it is, to be over--now!!

Still have not heard anything from DH. I will keep you posted!!

I'm praying that he gets encouraging results soon.

It does sound similar to how my dad felt when his appendix ruptured. I'd always heard that you would just die right away if your appendix ruptured, but now that it happened to my dad and I've talked to more people who have also experienced it, I know that it's a misconception. It took over a week before he was finally diagnosed correctly. Apparently it's much harder to diagnose once it's ruptured, due to the fact that the pain is no longer localized and the appendix appears normal in an ultrasound.

Sounds alot like when my gallbladder gave me all that trouble. I was super, super sick - never been so sick in all my life. I will think the good thoughts for him. :grouphug:

Glad to hear it's "only" a virus.

I was going to post earlier but the only abdominal pain issues I've had are a ruptured ovarian cyst (I was pretty sure that's not what he had :p ;)) and diverticulitis and it didn't sound like that.

Thanks for the update. Hope he feels better soon.

ETA: I just noticed you're in Cypress. Hope your DH is up to rooting for the Astros tonight. :cheer2: Tell him no jumping up and down though. ;)

Those viruses like to hang around - I'll keep thinkin' the good thoughts for him. Just make him rest! :)
