Help deluxe vs moderate

We are staying 8 nights.

How about doing a split stay? A few nights at POR and a few at the Yacht Club? I love the deluxe resorts, but I have a hard time paying for them. $1000 would be hard for me to justify, but half of that, not so hard.;)

I disagree with a split stay (although I have one coming up in a week, it just turned out that way, two nights at Pop then 7 nights at AKV Kidani).

I agree that Stormalong Bay in July is not that appealing. I'd rather use a quiet pool personally.

CSR is something to consider - you could look into the concierge level there.

Are exterior corridors a consideration? That is a main difference to me.

Have you considered the Swan? You would lose a few things though, like Magical Express. And you need to consider the added "resort fee" as well. But, the rooms were just completely overhauled and look very nice! I always enjoyed my stays there, and their room service was nice to have a couple mornings and evenings.

I've personally grown annoyed with how much the deluxe resorts are now. I'm renting a one bedroom/two bath unit from an owner this upcoming trip for $250/night versus the well over $600/night Disney was asking. Last spring break it was just DD and me, and we paid $2,000 for BWI. We both agreed it wasn't worth it at all. This upcoming trip it's me and the kids for two nights, then DH is joining us so the space for all 4 of us will be needed!

$1,000 would cover tickets plus a LOT of food and drinks. I'd rather save personally, and choose where appeals to you most. Never stayed at the YC but have stayed a couple times at the BC years ago, and I wasn't thrilled with it much. Preferred for some reason BWI.

Have you looked at redweek for rentals of DVC units as well? That's where I've rented all but one time (the one time 2 years ago was a last minute off TUG boards).

Edited to add: I see a five night rental at the BCV on redweek 7/15 - 7/20 for $245 a night for a studio. Not sure if that helps much but just looking around! There's also a one bedroom Boardwalk Villa for $400 a night the week before. That's kind of high I think personally, but I love the space of the living room and having my own washer/dryer!

Looking for opinions. My husband and I are planning a couples only trip for the end of July. It is a combo celebration for our birthdays and anniversary. My question is we always wanted to stay deluxe but the cost always gets me. We thought since we don't have the kids this time, maybe this is our chance to stay deluxe. Well the summer promo came out and we can stay at POR which we love or for a $1000 more we could stay at the Yacht club. Would you spend the extra for the deluxe?
Abso-freaking-lutely!!!

At the end of July, I would not spend the extra for YC. During the Flower and Garden Festival, during the Food and Wine Festival, during Christmastime, but not in the middle of the Summer. As previous poster has mentioned, the convenient location of the Yacht Club walking distance to EPCOT and HS is no longer a plus in my mind--not with the heat. I would stay at POR and rent a car using part of that $1,000 savings. POR has plenty of shade and a lot of shade by the pools. Just my 2 cents--take them for what they're worth and have a great adults time at DISNEY! Fun, fun, fun....

New wrinkle in my plans. Yacht club is not available but the Boardwalk is available. What is your opinion on the Boardwalk?

Ignore my tag. I love the Boardwalk. It has the most beautiful quiet pool on property, set in a rose garden. Very adult and upscale.

I would grab the Boardwalk while it was available. We LOVED staying there! Of course, POR is also lovely. It is just that the location of the BWI is so nice for an adults only trip. LOVE walking distance to Epcot and DHS. It would be worth the uncharge for DH and me.
