I am sitting here freaking out right now because Delta changed our flight times!!!!! We were supposed to leave August 30th (we couldn't leave the night before due to work constraints) at 7:30am. We would be in Orlando by 10:30. NOW, they have put us on a flight that leaves Boston at 11:30 and arrives at MCO at 2:30 PM!!!!! I found this out by randomnly checking our flight itinerary on the website. This is completely unacceptable to me and I have no clue what to do....I booked with Delta because I had enough skymiles to purchase one of the tickets. I feel sick to my stomach over this....does anybody have any advice???? They don't even have an early morning direct flight anymore! Song airlines has screwed everything up!!!! Help!!!! Please!!!!

I can relate to your delta woes- please read my threads concerning them. I am NOT at all surprised by this. Take a deep breath- you're gonna need it when dealing with them. Your flight change is exactly the one my DD 17 was bumped to. She was originally scheduled to leave out of Providence but they shuttled her up to Boston for this flight. It was cutting it too close for my comfort.
I don't know what to say to help ease your mind except to ask if it is too late to change your plans for flying with them.
BTW- DD did make it to the ship- but just on time. We were pacing the port, missed muster and had to scurry onboard.
Good luck- I hope it all works out for you! The cruise was well worth the head aches Delta caused. A magical, wonderful trip!
I think Delta now stands for Don't Ever Let Them Arrive (on schedule at least!)

Please remain calm.

First, do not confirm the changes with Delta (or any other airline if this thread applies to you as well). Once you do that, you've lost all bargaining power.

You should be able to change your flight to a more convienent flight, even to Friday. As long as you have not confirmed the changes that Delta made, I don't think that you will be charged for changing your flights.

If you have confirmed the changes that Delta have made, then if you want to change your flights, you will definately have to pay the change fee plus any difference in the cost of the flight.

Your Skymiles flight may be a different story though.

CALL DELTA and discuss it with them.

Also, BTW...

No airline will call you before 60 days out generally because additional changes may occur. So yes, you must keep track of your flights on your own.

Happened to imgoingtodisney also. Called a wk ago and our direct flights (7am-10am) from Providence are no longer. Our 7pm-10pm flight home is no longer.
We are now leaving Fri 8am but not arriving till after 1pm. Thank God I had booked us to fly to Orlando on Fri, not Sat. The day the ship returns we leave Orlando at 7pm but wont get into Providence until midnight. We have Sun to recuperate before heading back to work.
Come heck or high water the imgoingtodisney family WILL be on the Nov 8th cruise and it WILL leave the dock.

Wow....we're going to have to watch out for this. We booked Delta (SO inexpensively) for a RT to Nassau this August. Thanks for the heads-up on this! ;)

Same thing happened to us for our August trip. Delta/Song not only changed our flight times, they also messed around with our seating assignments, they put DH and myself in row 23 and DD (age 6) in row 11. When I called and insisted that we all sit together they said I had to wait untill I got to the airport and hope that they would have some blocked seats available. Their customer service department was STINKY! to say the least. Anyway bottom line couldn't take the hassle any more so I canceled the flight(I got a full refund ) and booked on Southwest out of Providence and saved myself $50.

Very nervous flyer and can't be put through this aggrevation, 3 months prior to flight.

We are flying Delta this Saturday out of Providence so far the flights and seats have remained the same, we are planning on arriving at the airport very early.

Keep an eye on those flight changes!

This wasnt for a cruise, but we were booked on Song for our Dec trip, scheduled to leave on a Sunday morning at 7:20. that flight got cancelled and we were put on the 11:35. I immediately panikced because its very important to me that we all be seated together(2 small kids, and Im paranoid to fly anyway), so DH called and got us assigned seats. Then after calming down for about a week we decided the cost of an extra nights hotel was worth having that full first day in WDW so we decided to go a day earlier. We called them back again, and even though we had "accepted" the later flight, they had no problem switching us to a day earlier. I should also add the price of the flight has doubled since we booked it and there was no problem with the cost, or any fees to change. I was very pleased with how accomodating they were..and now I get a longer trip. ;)

It's not just Delta. I'm flying American to Vancouver for an Alaskan cruise, and they changed our flight times too. The flight out was easily adjusted. The flight after the cruise is the problem. AA originally had 2 flights after noon on the day we get off the ship. Now the latest flight is 11:25 am. That is cutting it too close, so looks like I'm going to be staying an extra day in Vancouver.

10 of us are going on the June 14, 7 day and Delta eliminated our flight to the ship on June 14 and put us on a later flight. I talked to Disney Transportation and they assured me we'd have time to still make it to the ship; can't guarantee there will be any spa ressies left, but will make the ship. Crossing my fingers. Then, flying back, Delta moved us to an earlier flight. Our TA talked to them and was able to change to a later flight for $10 a ticket which I threw up my arms and paid. To top it off, we're on a 50 seat (one lavatory, no thrills) partner airline (not Song). At least it's a direct flight.

I'm a Delta FF and after this year, it really hasn't been worth it!

i had reservations on delta and rebooked on another airline, not because of bad reviews here, but i wanted to get to the port a day earlier... found a great flight on US Airways and ended up saved $300.00.

so, after reading this, i guess it really is for the best.

I would be freaking too, but don't! LOL. I had this happen to me. I booked our flight to MCO form Boston like 7 months in advance on Delta. Not 2 weeks after I booked, I received a schedule change. They cancelled the direct flight, and put us on the next flight, it had a connection, in OHIO, no less...why would I want to go NORTH to go South? I NEEDED a direct flight. I have 3 small kids, and connections for me is just not an option. Did it once, never again.

I just called them up, and explained to them that I needed a direct flight. They put me on the early morning flight which meant my son had to miss an extra day of school. We originally had a mid-afternoon flight, so he would be in school for at least half the day.

I agree with the other posters, do not confirm this change. I am not sure how it works, but if they cannot accomidate you and get you to Orlando by the time you NEED to be there, then maybe they can book you on another airline? I am sure it has been done before. Good luck! I feel bad for you, but I am sure it will work out.

It's not only Delta. American just changed our flight times also...moving the time up by 3 hrs coming back! I called but did not confirm as I was also told that I would then be locked into the flight if I confirmed it. So I told them not to confirm yet. Still haven't called back. Our flight isn't until mid July but American is already consolidating flights on smaller planes. I just hope they don't make it any earlier or we won't be able to make it from the ship!

I had this same issue with Delta and want to offer a bit of more advice. Do not wait to address this with Delta or you may be painting yourself into a corner that may wind up costing you more in the end. Delta's official policy is if they change a flight by more than an hour and a half they will issue a refund without . It is back in your court then to find another flight. So while I agree that this is AWFUL and Delta should be the one informing their customers, waiting for them to contact you may be hindering your finding a new suitable flight at a cost that's not prohibitive. My advice is do your own research find flights that work for you and then push Delta to either transfer your reservation or get the refund and book the new flights on your own.

I actually re-booked again with Delta but still took the refund because I found a cheaper flight and all they would do is give me a credit. By taking the refund and re-booking I got cash in hand.

P.S. United also switched flights on me on different trip so this issue is going on everywhere. But with United I can't even get them on the phone. When I call they don't even put you on hold, they just have message that says "Due to high call volume, we cannot take your call at this time" and then it hangs up. How's that for customer service?????

Same thing happened to me. I am a major worrier and couldnt deal with getting into MCO so "late". I called Song and they had no problem cancelling my tickets. I expected them to offer me other flights, but they suggested just cancelling. I rebooked on Southwest, saving lots of money. I also decided to fly in a day early. That way if there were anymore changes, I would still get on the boat on Sat.

Call them and tell them that is not acceptable. I did this on US air. They moved by11:30 flight to 7:30am. I said no. I can't make it there by then. They them moved me to a 11:40 flight.

The 50 seat flights are really not bad planes. I was very hesitant the first time we were booked on a CRJ, because I don't like to fly. I love the CRJ--the seats are much larger, the leg room is greater, the space under the seats is roomier. I have always been served my drink and snack (crackers, not a small bag of pretzels) much sooner than in a large plane. They let me keep the whole can of soda. The luggage beats us to the claim area. The gate check thing is handy. The overhead bins are much smaller. The lavatory is tiny, but I try not to go to the bathroom on the plane anyway. I actually try to book my flights on the CRJ instead of the larger jets if given a choice.

I had a similar problem on United, they changed my departure time to something unacceptable. I simply called them and said that the time change would not work for me and they moved me to a different flight. The new flight did not have 3 seats together but I advised the agent that we were flying with our 6-year old DD, and she got a supervisor to "unblock" some seats. I think a lot depends on how good and compassionate the agent is!

Thank you all for your responses - you have successfully calmed me down - don't know where I would be without these boards!!!! I haven't had a chance to call Delta yet (work was nuts today), but I am looking into getting us on an evening flight the day before we were originally supposed to leave. I have checked flight schedules and it looks like Delta has eliminated the direct flights in the early AM. I cannot take a chance with a connecting flight. We will probably spend the evening at the airport hyatt and then take Disney transfers in the morning (there are only two of us). At least we'll get a good night's sleep and be on the first bus in the AM!!! Hopefully, Delta will honor my requests....keeping my fingers crossed....
