I will be going to a wedding in a few weeks so I went shopping for a dress today and ended up getting two. Just wanted your thoughts on them. Also, the wedding will not be in any kind of religious location. It will be held at a hotel, if that makes a difference to you.

Dress 1 (except in black):

Dress 2 (similar to this one except black and more pleated):

ETA: I'm 20. They both look good on. Dress 1 looks good both in person and in photos and Dress 2 looks good in person, but not so much in photos. It has a black, VERY form fitting slip-esque thing under it that you can see through the chiffon that shows off curves better than just the flow-y fabric (I'm SO not a fashionista, can you tell?)

On a side note, I feel like I'm finally part of the DIS club known as "is it tacky to put a note about gifts on the invite?" The invitation requested that if you wanted to bring gifts, please give cash or gift cards. When I opened it, the first thing I thought about was the DIS.

I depends on the look you are going for. Do you want be sexy with the curves or do you want to look more baby doll sexy?

I voted #2. There's nothing really "special" about the first one, but the 2nd one has pizzazz!

I like dress #1 better but since it's a wedding, dress #2 may be a better choice.

I like them both, BTW!

Hmm. At my age, I would totally go with #1. It seems like you're in college? If I was younger, I might go with #2. I haven't voted. It would also depend on if I thought #2 made me look wide. It may take your shape and widen it in pictures, even if it looks fine in person. I actually love the blue/purple in the picture of #1. Purple seems to be my fall back color for formalwear.

I don't like the 2nd one at all. #1 is very nice.

I personally think dress #1 is definitely more wedding appropriate. While they both have a "sexy" appeal, simpler is better for a wedding. You don't want a type of sexy where the eyes wind up on you rather than the bride. I do think dress #2 is awesome, just not one I'd choose for a wedding but rather a night out or something.

I love Dress #2!!

Just remember no one is supposed to look better than the bride at a wedding....with that in mind, maybe dress #2 is too much? I voted for #1, that is a nice dress to attend a wedding in. #2 is a GREAT dress...for something else.

For a wedding I'd go with #1, especially if the ceremony is in a church or other religious building. For a hot date, #2.

I also really like dress #2 but I think #1 might be a little more wedding appropriate! They're both lovely, though!

Look how skinny the girls legs are in picture #2...how the heck can she stand on those little toothpicks!!!

And I like #1 for a wedding. #2 looks more like a party dress.

Dress #1 is sophisticated and formal and dress #2 is playful and cute. I like both but would choose depending on the time of day of the reception and where it is being held.

Dress 1 for the wedding.

Dress 2 for a hot date or NYE where you want people to notice you. A translucent dress with a form fitting dress underneath may be a bit much for a wedding where the bride is supposed to shine.

I sure you look phenomenal in both, so as to not outshine the bride, choose the more conservative one. I think dress #2, especially in black and the hemline, is really too nice and too "party" and would compete with wedding gown.

Number 2 is more youthful in my opinion...as for the invitation suggesting what to gift? Tacky..:confused3

If I were a 20 year old with my 20 year old body I'd definitely wear #2.
I think #1 is pretty and I would wear that now but for you it would depend on how tall you are because a dress that falls bellow the knee will make you look short as it is.

I agree completely.
