Help Dcl Experts!!!

I need advice. What you rather do:

Option 1: 4 nights at Poly and 4 nites on Wonder with a deluxe room with a verandah

Option 2: 4 nights at moderate (CBC) and 7 nites on Magic (Western) with a deluxe inside stateroom

Right now we are booked with option 1; however I just ran the numbers with option 2 and it is just a couple of hundreds more but we are getting an additional 3 nights on the cruise. I am also concerned of weather since we are going to go in December and I believe the Magic should have better weather than the Wonder because of their intinaries. I do not know what I should do.

What would you experts prefer? A shorter vacation with deluxe accomodations or a longer vacation with moderate accomodations? Would the weather play any part of your decision? Thank you, in advance, for your advice. I am driving myself crazy like it is the biggest decision in the world!

I would take the 7 days on the Magic...the four day is just WAY to short to really enjoy yourself!

we started out last year thinking 7 nights at WDW. We then changed to a 3 or 4 day cruise, 3 or 4 days at the World. We ended up with the 7 day Western and 2 days at the World

right choice by far.

Do the 7 day, you will NOT regret it

Definitely go with the Magic!
Even with an inside stateroom, you'll be so busy at the ports and have so many options like the secret deck 7 aft verandah and the Rainforest that you'll barely miss the verandah. The same goes for the resort...you'll spend most of your time at the parks, and you can always have dinner at a deluxe resort. Our favorites to dine at are the Poly (Ohana) and the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Can you tell I'm all for the 7 night cruise?!? You also have to figure how much you will save on food by being on the cruise. Consider it a nice end of the year gift for the family.

4 days on the ship is not enough - go for the 7 day cruise ! Have fun!

We have only done the 4 day so far, and I say go for the 7 day!!! No question. Your two options have the same amount of time at WDW. The only difference at WDW is the type of lodging. Putting up with a moderate would definitely be worth the extra days on the cruise. Plus, December weather will be better in the carribbean than in the Bahamas.

So my vote is for option 2!

I agree go for the 7 day. The moderate would be fine with me, but I don't think I would do an inside room. I'm a veranda fan!

Option 2 for sure! When you are asleep, do you really know how fancy the hallways and lobby are?? The 7 night cruise is just so much fun. And to still have the same number of days in the parks. No question!! Option 2

I haven't been on a cruise yet, however, I would definitely go with Option 2!!!

Putting up with a moderate would definitely be worth the extra days on the cruise.

I don't think there'd be much to "put up with" while staying at the CBC! Go for option 2!!

I would definitely go for the 7 day cruise with the moderate accomodations on ship and at WDW. How often are you in your rooms anyway?? And since you are on this board you know about the secret decks, so it will be like having a verandah! I have never done the shorter cruises, only the 7 day. But I can't imagine someone telling me to get off after 4 days! And the Poly is my FAVORITE wdw resort, but the moderates are nice too.... That's my two cents...

option 2 , just some thoughts......

If u have a deluxe state room what r u in CAT 10 ???
if so ask for the cabin to be on deck 5 only
There r 6 cabins on deck 5 that have Portholes , but r sold as
a deluxe inside staterooms so u do have a chance to get a window at least ..........

3rd Thought, Is this threw Disney Cruise Lines directly u r trying to Book? If so try clicking the link at top of the page and get a Quote from the sponsor of the board they will be less expensive than booking with Disney directly and may also offer a rebate and a shipboard credit ......

4th Thought, Do u plan on returning to Disney within a years time of this trip ??
if so, If u Got Annual pass u maybe entitled to Room discounts that Annual Pass holders recieve..... only 1 person has to have annual pass in the room .......
I know it is $300.00 or so for pass not sure how much 4 day is but it has to be around $220.00 so if u can get room discounts it may still be worth it to get annual pass
and if u go to this web site u can look at Annual pass rates for rooms...... lot less expensive .....

Option 2 without a doubt!!......7 days wasn't long enough lol!.

But I'd rough it ouside the park for a verandah as well

Thank you all so much for your input and information. I talked it over with my DH and brother and his wife, and we decided to switch it. I was able to get a deluxe outside stateroom with a porthole (two connecting rooms). We are getting three more nights for only about $239 more.

I am planning to book the land portion separately. To get rates for comparision, I used December 2003 rates with no discounts or codes. Does that sound right? Also, we have a total of five days left on our hopper passes from the last trip (I do not know how that happened--I think they did not scan them right at the entrance).

Right now I have it booked with DCL, but will wait until other TA's, including AAA & Costco, run promotions and have the reservation switched. I would not have known that was possible if it was not for these boards--thank you all.

Another question, since we will book the land portion separately, will Disney still take our luggage from the hotel to the port or will we have to be responsible for it?

I did not book the insurance--AccessAmerica, I think, is the way to go--again, thank you all for that tip. Further, I did not take the transportation since there is a total of eight in our party, it pays to hire yourself. In May, we went with Tiffany and they were wonderful. The driver was great and the van was brand new.

As far as AP goes, we plan on buying them for our trips in August of 2005 and May of 2006--well that is my plan, I have not told my DH yet.

Now, how does my game plan sound? Once again, thank you all for your valuable information and input. My DD4, DS3, nephew 8, and neice 5 are all excited about the extra days, which we have these boards to thank.

I sailed on the 3day years ago. Although we fell in love with DCL, the trip was hectic and exhausting. I highly recommend the 7 day. It is an unbelievable experience.

U Go ... sounds great ..... would still see if a better rate is avaliable at mousesavrs.... and they will take luggage but they will CHARGE U...... take your own plenty of room in tiffanys van have a great trip.... peter
