:sad1: My DBF and I will be returning to the world in May and I have been dying to see La Nouba since the last time we were there in '02...I've begged and pleaded but he still says it doesn't look like fun :confused3 -anyone have any ideas on what to tell him that might encourage him to go?

How about try this....

You get tickets to see Cirque, and he gets tickets to DisneyQuest!

Cirque isn't for everyone, but if he likes the Lion King show over at AKL, he would likely enjoy Cirque!!!!

I haven't seen La Nouba, but I have seen other variations and really enjoyed them. I was going to go next week to see it, but I was waiting for some type of discount tickets.... oh well, maybe in October!

Good luck!

Try to get a video of another Cirque show that isn't La Nouba to give him a taste...I can't imagine anyone not at least being mildly amused by the show.

Also, you offer to do an activity of his liking that you wouldn't normally do. I can't imagine anything in Disney World being unbearable to the point that you wouldn't have some fun.

My DH isn't an "artsy" kind of guy, but he loved La Nouba. In fact, I've never talked to a man that didn't find La Nouba fascinating. If it's important to you that he go with, maybe you can make a deal with him to do something he wants to do in exchange. If he absolutely won't go, he can drop you at the door and visit some of the other entertainment joints at Downtown Disney and pick you up at the door when the show's over. It'll be his loss!

Cirque du Soleil is not to be missed. If he refuses to go with you, go alone.

You might advise him that there is a nice bar with outdoor tables near the Cirque building (in front of the House of Blues),and he can sit there and have a beer, or whatever, and people watch until you return. The show is only 90 minutes long.

Enjoy.

You can buy various Cirque shows on dvd on their web site or other dvd sellers on the web. I actually bought La Nouba on dvd at Walmart for $10. We have seen it twice, last time I took my 85 yo mom and she said it was the best part of the trip.

We waited entirely too long before seeing La Nouba. I had always wanted to but I was skeptical that DH wouldn't enjoy himself. I convinced him to go by basically just nagging him until he said yes. He had a great time.We both did. The show is great... its just so fun and amazing. I think you should just buy the tickets not, tell him what you are doing and show up. He will most likely enjoy himself.

I'd be of the opinion that he can take 90 minutes out of his life to see a show you're dying to see. My guess is that once he's seen it, he'll be glad he did, but even if he hates it, it's an hour and a half, not a 3-day long commitment and I'm sure you've gone to events *he* wanted to go to. :)

My wife had to drag me kicking and screaming in La Nouba. On the way back to the hotel, I said, "Boy, am I glad you made me go to that!"

We went to Las Vegas later that year, and went to two Cirque shows out there at MY insistance!

Teen boys loved it. They can't wait to take DH if we can get him to even return to WDW at all!

The trick bikes were very cool. That was my son's suggestion to add to the post! :goodvibes

La Nouba is unlike anything you will ever see. Maybe he thinks it's just an ordinary circus because of the name "Cirque de Soleil"?? It has amazing feats of technology and human skills. Somtimes I found myself watching it and not believeing that I was actually seeing what I was seeing. It is definitely worth going to see. DH and DS weren't that crazy about going, but finally decided to go. They were both amazed and we have since seen two more Cirque shows.

If you absolutely cannot get DBF to go with you, I agree with the other posters that you should go alone. It is an experience not to be missed.

If all this advice doesn't work on your Dbf... ...then take me! I'll go! hahaha :teeth: Love me some La Nouba!

As several people have posted before compromise. My DF got me to go, but I didn't find this show to my liking. I do enjoy other shows at WDW, but this isn't my cup of tea. Check HOB schedule maybe there might be a band he'd enjoy that time you'll be down here. Good luck :wizard:

Have you asked him why he doesn't want to go? Is it the finances, or time issues?

Of course you can always do what DW does to me when we disagree. Just go out and get the tickets and then tell him by the way they are non-refundable. If he's like me he won't want to waste the money.

I've never seen a live Cirque show, seen them on TV but it never interested me at all...so yes there are those of us who just don't enjoy that kind of show, sorry to say it.

I have never seen Cirque (maybe this June??), but my DH went with his company during a convention. He loved it so much even though he does not like any other theatrical performances. I met him at Disney the day after he went to Cirque and he wanted to take me to it AGAIN while we were there. Unfortunately we were only in Disney for 1 night- the night that Cirque does not perform. So I never got to see it. Good luck in getting him to go!

I have been thinking about going, the only problem is clowns!!!! They are so creapy!!!!!!!

:smooth: :confused3 :badpc:
