Has anyone ever done this? I am looking for ideas for my DD 16th birthday. I was thinking maybe taking a few of her friends to do this? What are the age of people that usually do this cruise. It is for 1 night. It leaves from NY.
Do they dress up for dinner? I would appreciate any infor that anyone has. Thanks!

Bumping hoping that someone has some info.

Can't give you any info on dressing, etc, but I did want to say this: if you need to save $$, I see these up for auction on SkyAuction.com. I kinda had it in the back of my mind as something to do if I ever make it back to NYC.

go over to the cruise critics boards and you'll probably find info over there. I wish I could do a cruise to anywhere (including nowhere) right now!!!!!

www.cruisecritic.com you should be able to get all the info you want. Sounds like a fun idea for a party. The only thing is you'll need at least one adult booked into each room.

I have done two CTN - one was an all girly trip, the other was a family reunion trip. Both were two nights. There were all ages. There was a dress up night (captain's gala). Lots of partying, drinking and gambling. IT was a lot of fun and I'll be going back in October. For the price, I think it's a great deal if you have a few people share a room. To me, it's like going to a hotel for the weekend, but all of your meals and entertainment are included!

We took a Norweigan Cruise out of San Francisco for two nights last year. (yeah - a cruise to "Nowhere"!) It was great fun - worth the $$. We saw mostly couples, a few girls-only groups. I think a group of 16 year-olds would be fine. And Beth is right - you'll need at least one adult booked into each room

It's been a long time, but I have done 2 ctn's from NY. Both were 2 nights. It was fun, but I got seasick. Some people did dress to the nines for dinner, although we did not. The cruises that we took were 2 nights each and went down to the Cheasapeke Bay area. We even saw dolphins.

Oh my-I remember doing these in the late 70s out of West Palm Beach. It was more like a huge wild party. As the memories are slowly coming back, I recall the boat/ship basically being a floating piece of crap compared to what is out there now. I wish I could remember the name of the ship. I am sure it has sunk by now and being used as an artificial reef.

I am not trying to talk you out of this. I am just recalling memories! :) The cruise ships have come a long way.

DH and I did this along with another couple in Oct. 2005. It was on NCL Dawn out of NY. Cost was $500 per couple, balcony cabin. We had a great time, but it was very crowded. I had sailed on the Dawn for a week the year before and a one night cruise is nothing like a 'real' cruise! The one nighter had the bars and casino jam packed. People were everywhere! I'm thinking that it was mostly couples, big groups and 'girls night out'. Maybe I just didn't notice that there were teens there!

What cruise line is it with? Usually that fact alone will help determine a lot about what type of people will be on it, the dress code, etc. :) I second the recommendation for CruiseCritic, as it is a great resource!

For what its worth though, cruises to nowhere, especially shorter ones, tend to attract more of a party crowd generally.
