Help - Cricut vs Sizzix - Scrapbookers!!

I only have the small Cricut but I love it. I have a few carts for it but I purchased a program for my computer called sure cuts a lot and since then I don't buy any carts. You can find a lot of free patterns on line to use.

Which ever machine you go with will come with at least 1 cart, maybe more. The colored E's at Walmart come with 2 carts. The cart that comes with the machine is usually a basic font to get you started. Besides the machine, I would get a spatula first thing. It will help you remove the cut images from the mat. Seriously, it is a life saver! (Or paper saver depending on how you look at it!)

There is a computer program for the cricut out there called sure cuts alot. It lets you use your cricut to cut any font you can find for your computer. You can also import drawings and it will trace the outline and allow you to cut it out. You can also cut out anyshape that is in a specific format (can't remember the name). There are thousands of the shapes out on the net available with a simple google search. The program is only $60. If you get it you no longer need to buy cartridges as you can get or make any shape or letter you want. The only downside is that the cricut has to be connected to a computer to work.

Don't buy more cartridges, buy "Sure Cuts a Lot 2" and use any free font or Free SVG file you can find online ( litterally thousands and thousands including a ton of disney things they dont even make carts for!)

You just need to find a good website to explain it all ( I think I got most of my info from scrappingtable.com) and I ended up buying my SCAL from her site as it got me a ton of extra images free ( I was still learning how to download them so it was handy to have those pre-installed)

I am not affilated with SCAL or scrappingtable, I am just a VERY VERY happy customer, who will never need another cartridge again!

p.s. SCAL cost me the same price as one cartridge and you must own at least one cartridge to make the cricut run and load properly, no problem since it comes with one.

I would be careful of this. Sure Cuts a Lot voide your warranty and Provo Craft is working on an update for the machines so they won't work with it.

I have a sizzix ( collects dust), Cuttrle bug ( gets used rarely), and a small cricut ( gets lots of use) I would go with cricut myself.
