Help! Computer gurus, I need your thoughts, quick!

I leave tomorrow for Park City, Utah, for a ski vacation with my 17yo son (his graduation present from me) and his best friend. I want to take my laptop with me, but the 800 line for my internet provider costs 17cents a minute! With two teenagers on ICQ, that could add up pretty fast.

Is there any reason why I couldn't use my local access number and a calling card (at 3.7 cents a minute?) Would that work?

Thanks for your help! I know it's not a lot, but I'm a single parent and every penny saved helps.

some creative dialing, your modem needs to dial a local number then the CC number. Does your ISP have a local number in Park City? I know my old dial up had TONS of local numbers, so no matter where I went, I could access with out dialing an 800 or LD #.

Just a thought.

Well it theoretically could be done with some creative dialing. I would listen to the prompts that your calling card makes you go through. Time out the pauses between and then use a one comma for every 2 seconds of a pause you need. So you might have a set up that would look like this (using totally bogus numbers) 18008608542,,,,,,1,,,5555551212 It might take some playing but it could be done.
