Hey... I have two questions for those of you that have stayed at the AKL at Club Level:

1) What did you see outside your window? Any animals??

2) What types of foods did they have throughout the day? Can you really plan to eat a quick but filling breakfast or grab a good size snack during the day??

I am thankful for any information you can share!

We stayed there March 8-20th, but had a pool view room so except for one galloping giraffe in the background, we saw no animals from our room.

I terms of food, my family ate breakfast there every day and found it quite filling. Snacks and the suppertime offerings were enough for us for supper a couple of nights, especially if we had a late big lunch at the parks.

The offerings changed every day, but there was always something that each of us liked. My fav snack was the kettle chips. Drat! Thinking about them makes me want to go back...

The concierge rooms are not known for their animal views.

We were there the begining of March and had a CC 1 bedroom with a pool view. The lounge was wonderful, and the breakfast offerings more than enough with some wonderful teas and lots of variety. The snacks were okay and the juices were nice and some were unusual. The desserts were from Jiko and Boma, but were small sample type ones. We learned quickly that you had to be there right at 8 PM if you wanted one!

We were considering this but have now decided against it. We want a savanna view and we will probably only eat breakfast and evening snacks at the resort. These can easily be brought from the supermarket when we arrive and will be on hand just for us when we want them. We won't have to worry about getting to the lounge late and not having any food left or finding that our DDs won't eat anything there.

I was tempted by the sunrise safari but it is something we will wait and do when our youngest DD is a bit older. For now both DDs will be happy to watch the animals and take the safari at Animal Kingdom.

The concierge is more than "free food" though. We basically did it for the two extra safaris, and I must say, I would do it every trip if I could. DH loved the lounge area, and we felt we spent less on food this trip because of it.

We'll be there next week so of course I don't know yet if we have savanna or pool view. With my luck, I'm about 90% sure it will be pool. We have stayed concierge before specificallly for the extra safari offerings. This time, we're doing just the sunrise safari. Love it!

We'll eat breakfast in the lounge but probably won't be around for snacks very much. I'm looking forward to daily mousekeeping though. Since we normally stay DVC, that will be a treat to have "hotel" service again.

Don't disparage about the pool view from concierge. We actually enjoyed it. I loved being right under the thatched roof. Here are a couple of pics.

We'll be there next week as well! I imagine that the lounge is at its busiest in the morning. It seems that just about everyone staying concierge plans on having breakfast there. I forgot about daily mousekeeping. That willl be a treat!

It really won't matter whether its a savanna or pool view to us. We stayed at AKL in 2003 and had a savanna view so if we don't have one this time, it'll be okay. We are moving midway thru the trip from a studio to a 1br but both are club level so we'll have to see how that all goes.

Same here. We were there last month in a 2 bedroom savanna view and will be there again in December in savanna view. This time we're using concierge to do the sunrise safari so the view is less important.

When are you there next week? I don't get there until the night of 4/16 and then we leave before dawn on 4/21. Maybe we'll see you at breakfast!

This is going to be a tough one for us...

DH wants to stay in the new building because of the "new" accomadations, wants a savanna view, and does not care about the sunrise safari or the extra food...

Kids want the savanna view but really want to do the safari....

I would love to do the safari and feel like the mousekeeping would be a really nice treat. I also really enjoy the savanna view although I would not mind a pool view either (I actually really don't care as long as I am not looking at the parking lot or garbage)... But I know how much my kids loved seeing the animals outside our windows and we did see a whole lot... I loved watching them have that experience...I also don't really care about the extra food...Yes, it is nice to save money (especially on breakfast) but I don't see us using it as we should... We like sit down meals and we plan to spend a lot of time outside of the resort for meal times...

I need some advice... Maybe I should consider the Backstage Tour at the AK and getting the savanna view... Any thoughts?

I have just spent the past several minutes reseaching the Backstage Tour...There is no way we could do this... My kids are too young to spend 3 hours on this type of tour...Seems better for people without small children...

DH just said this is a "no brainer"... We have to stay in a savanna view room because the kids would miss having all of those animals outside the room...

I see both sides on this one... He does not... Ugg, I guess Club Level is out next time around... Maybe in a few years.

What type of food is offered? For example is it just fruit at breakfast times or are there cereals too, or bagels? what is offered in the evenings?

I'll see you there! Look for me in the lounge. I'll be the guy from NY with the wife and 2 kids! Actually, we arrive late morning on the 13th and then leave late afternoon on the 18th so it looks like we've only got a brief overlap. Doing the Sunrise Safari on Thursday the 17th too. :woohoo:

Bagels, breads, cold cereal. Maybe a hot cereal but I don't do those so not sure. Whole fresh fruit as well as chopped fruit. Coffee, tea, milk, juices, expresso.

Evenings bring various appetizers....hummus, salmon (but not this past trip while we were there anyway), skewers of meat. Always cheese and crackers, crudites, wine and beer.

Really?

Huh, I must have stayed in the wrong room then.

I guess you can't believe everything you read on the DIS. I read that the Concierge rooms were above the roof line of the lower floors and that the view of the savanna was obscured.

I was in room 6202, which is a HA 1BR on the sunset savannah. We are DINKs, so the HA did not affect us. By that I mean we had a walk-in shower and no tub that we would need to bath children. We really enjoyed the unit. The unit is the second room from the lounge. Most days we would carry food and beverages back to the room and sit on the balcony since it was so close, versus the end of the hallway, in which case we would have enjoyed the lounge more.
