I am so confused which resort to choose or if I should do a split stay.
first some back ground information. We Love CSR and Contemporary and BLT. But this time we want to try something new.
I can not afford to stay deluxe for all 8 nights. So I really like the looks of Beach Club, so thinking maybe a split stay between there and Port Orleans French Quarters or Caribbean Beach.
which would you choose?
My group consists of myself and my 20 yr old DD and 21 yr old Neice.
my 2nd question is I usually do the dining plan but if I do a split stay we will only have the dining plan for the 1st 4 nights. then pay out of pocket.
does it make sense to do this or just stay moderate the whole trip?
I hope this makes sense and thanks in advance.

I think it depends on when you are going and what the typical weather patterns are for that time. Of course, there is no guarantee.

We stayed at the Beach Club a few years ago and LOVED it. However, I realized that we had fabulous weather and the things I loved were the pool and strolling around the Boardwalk and into EPCOT. Had there been a cold stretch or days of rain then I think I would have felt bitter about paying so much for a hotel. I didn't like the lack of food choices either.

That's kind of us too -- DH loves the look of WL but we can't spring the price for a week and still have the type of trip we want. We're planning on doing a split w/POR or POFQ and then WL for 2 or 3 nights. We've stayed at CSR and want to try a different mod too. POR/FQ just appeals to us more than CBR. POFQ is completely refurbished and POR is in the process -- nice queen sized beds and everything so nice and new. The boat to DTD is also a plus. I would so love to try BC but I let DH pick the resorts so that he doesn't complain about going to WDW again .

I totally Agree....

We LOVE the Beach Club... tried it in 04 and went back 06,08 and 10.....

Kids now your kids age and I know they would love it again but we are tearing ourselves away and staying somewhere else...

The Pool is fabulous IMHO.... and LOVE the access to Boardwalk and all the fun and food options over there....

If the kids were very young... then I wouldn't enjoy...nor would I enjoy BC in the winter as much.....

Another Plus re: BC is walking distance to Epcot... with 20 yr olds... that is great to have so you can spend extra time over there and have the extra TS dining options.....

Have a magical visit !

Mary

PS:
Why don't you do moderate/OOP dining....

then BC with Dining plan?

The moderate days you could do MK and AK.... save Epcot and DHS for BC days...

You'll be closer to Great options re: Dining plan at BC... and you'll be going from Good to Great as opposed to Great to Good.....

Hope that makes sense.....

This way would make more since but I found a special through a travel agency I have used in the past that if I stay the first 4 nights a BC with dining and add the extra passes for the rest of the trip I can Save almost $1000 which would cover the cost of room only at a moderate.
Is Caribbean Beach really to BIG?
Note our 2 favorite parks are HS and MK. We will be going in the middle of Aug. as my grand daughters will be down there with a dance team (I do not want to stay at the place as a bunch of dance kids :rotfl:)

Personally I would do the mods. CSR, or POR... Split stays especially switching after 4 days, will have the trip flying by. Even though you going for 8 nights, I'm sure when you're done it won't feel that way. The extra money you save from going all mod, ( you could either add an extra day or 2, spend the extra $$ on stuff) Plus have the ddp for all the days you re there. Just my 2 cents, but I am personally not a fan of CBR. POFQ maybe just a step above that. The other 2 I suggested you can't go wrong with...Heres alil about both..

Let it be known that both times I went to these were during Jersey weeks in Nov.

CSR- Resort Grounds: The theming here is really nice. All 3 areas are unique to its section and very well maintained. A nice walk around the whole resort is roughly 15-20 minutes or so.

POR- Resort Grounds: The theming here is also very nice. Just a little different. Southern feel. Both gorgeous grounds though. I'd say just a tad longer to walk around the grounds, but a pleasant stroll again.

CSR- Rooms: Stayed in Casitas 4 which had renovated rooms & was a perfect location. Queen Size beds too.

POR- Rooms: Stayed in Magnolia Mansions. Also Beautifully redone, w/ queen size beds as well.

CSR- Pool The main Pool is awesome. Really nice slide. Plenty of lifeguards on duty. Never Ever, ever crowded. I think the most amount of people there while we stayed was maybe 20. The quieter pools are very nice too.

POR- Pool: This Pool Is very nice as well. Slide is just a tad smaller than CSR but equally nice. the pool always had plenty of people around , but never felt like overcrowded. You always had plenty of chaise loungers to sit at. a lot more kids it seemed too. quieter pools were just that very quiet..

CSR- Food Court: aka. pepper market. I know not many people like the idea of being escorted to you seat, but literally u wait maybe 5 secs, honestly. Never is it packed, the market itself has a nice array of food too. A small gratuity ( maybe $5 ) should cover your server.

POR- Food Court: Although the food selections here are awesome, the way it's set up is like the values. And yes the seating area is bigger, It was always busy, no matter what time of day. Mornings are Chaotic though. Worse lines here than the darn parks...LoL

CSR- Bus Service: The best hands down: Although there are multiple stops, It seems most people grab it at the main one, to go to the parks. Never di we wait for more than 1 bus which were sooo frequent. NEVER did we have to come close to standing either, Going to the parks or returning..

POR- Bus Service: This one was just Eh. Imho. At least heading out to the parks in the morning. I think we waited for an extra bus 3 days going to parks. Coming back from DTD we waited for 3 buses, & forget coming back from Fantasmic. That was like 7 buses... But when we do return, the west stop ( i think) was very close to our mansion, which was nice.
Also POR, Has the Boat ride to DTD, which is a pleasant ride & convenient.

I didn't eat at either of the 2 TS restaurants here, but have heard very good things about both. Also POFQ is just a smaller version of POR, but the New Orleans theming & closer feel, just didn't do it for me. Also the pool is a lil on the kiddish side. CBR I'm just not a big fan of. Layout, Theming, buses. The pool is good though. If I want to get a tropical theme ,then I'll go to the islands, not here. Thats just my $.02. Sorry. Don't mean to offend all of the CBR lovers

My suggestion, ( although its a hard one ) would probably got to CSR. It's a convention hotel , so it's never too crowded.

Ahhhhh! you bring me back to my 3 WDW visits with the High School Dance Team ! :lovestruc

ALTHOUGH.... There were ONLY 2 resorts at that time... and we stayed Off Site ! :lmao:

PP has some great moderate suggestions... I have not tried a Mod... but we truly did LOVE BC.... and you're a mere boat ride away from DHS (Can walk there if you feel up to it)

Thanks I am still leaning towards split stay at BC/POFQ but now a new twist. MY DD applied to the college program immediately had a online interview which was then immeiately followed with a telephone interview yesterday.
now the wait game. If she gets excepted then I may have to down grade to value as I know I will become a frequent flyer this fall.
I definitely would spend Christmas and New Years with her and probably with my days off travel in Oct and spend Thanksgiving.
exciting I know...

Well today my daughter got accepted in the Fall Disney College Program... So this means by thoughts of staying at a deluxe Resort has changed.
I have a feeling I may become a frequent flyer and making lots of trips to Disney.
I will not feel comfortable having her spend Christmas without family...
Oh and I LOVE Disney during the holidays...
