Hi guys

Help - I know i am becoming a pain and i am even getting fed up with me LOL

My dilema is about a hotel, I have boiled it down to either:

Quality Inn Plaza or
Rosen Plaza Hotel

Reason - I like the location of both of these

Dilema - If i stay at the QIP I could save about £260 for the both of us and i am worried that the RPH will full of business people.

We plan to stay in the Keys at a really nice hotel for our 3rd week which is not a problem so i know i will get a little luxury there.

What do you all think is it worth paying the xtra or shall i budget of go with the QIP.

Also has anyone stayed at these.

Hugs

T

IMHO, it really boils down to how much time you'll spend in the hotel. If you're only going toi sleep there. I'd plump for the cheaper option. If you'll be making use of the better facilities at the Rosen then you may think the extra cost is worth the money. Sometimes a cheaper option means you feel inclined to go out everyday (spending money) it can mean the higher initial cost of the rosen may turn out not to cost that much more.

No contest. I've stayed at both hotels and the rosen wins easily. The rosen is what I call a "proper" hotel with inside carpeted corridors. The Q I has outside concrete corridors which can be very noisy especially with little darlings running up and down early in the morning. Your'e right about it being more business types there but rooms are nicer & it has a great pool with a big waterfall jacuzzi.

ooooh totally different opions - i can see what you are saying in both instances

I kept thinking if i stayed in the QIP the money we would save we could buy our universal tickets for both of us which is really good. on the other hand we promised ourseleves that we would stay somewhere alot nicer.

This is the hotel we want to stay in in the keys:

So i know that should be good.

I was thinking of opting for cheaper and seeing if i could upgrade if the money looked good., but i still do not know

I've stayed at QIP twice and had no qualms at going back there one year after staying at Holiday Inn International (similar to the Rosen Plaza)the previous year. That was because I wanted to save money that year and I still found the QIP an adequate hotel to stay in and we hardly spent that much time there anyway.

The only thing that I felt I missed out on was the nice pool with the hot tub. But I spent the day at TL, BB and WnW so I didn't really miss out that much and the pools were great to have a swim in, later in the day or at night.

By the looks of things the hotel that you plan on staying in at the Keys looks great - so I say SAVE the money and stay at the QIP :)

You can do the RHP another year;)

We have stayed in the QI on our first visit to Disney around 8 years ago. At that time it was dirty and the staff were not in the least bit interested in you. I would never ever go back again.

I just want to add that I went as recently as November 2000 and I know that Goofyish (tim) stayed there last year and thought it was fine.

Rain I hope you don't mind but I wanted to clarify some things for Tracey. The QIP has undergone refurbishment within the last 4 years. As far as the hotel staff not taking an interest, well this is a BIG hotel on I-Drive and it has a lot of conference attendees staying here also so the staff are used to having people coming and going. I have never found the lite-bite staff very friendly but the reception staff were friendly to mee and upgraded my room when I asked to change rooms from high floor to low floor. Also I have always rung houeskeeping for more hangers and got them within 10 minutes of calling.

This is obviously all IMHO - but yes I would stay there again and on my last trip I stayed at the Yacht Club so I do have some standards!!!

Hi Sam,
I dont mind at all, I am glad it is better than when we went 8 years ago, it was really bad with dirty windows carpets and inadequate cleaning. Maybe they have a got new manager.

The Rosen is a lovely hotel! The QIP is OK.
Do you prefer to stay in a Hotel rather than a home? I was just thinking you may be able to save money and go for a little extra luxury (best of both worlds) I actually own a Townhouse on one of the resorts, they are like staying in a luxury hotel but half the price. No maid service though!
But if you are definatley a hotel person then it is The Rosen for me!

Approx. how much should I expect to pay for a town house in low season ? ( 1st 2 weeks Dec next year )
I fancy a villa, but they would be too big. There will only be me, dh, & 2 year old ds.
Do you pay per person, or is it a flat rate for the house ?

You will pay a flat rate just for the home, however if you told the homeowner there was only 3 of you, there may be some discount offered. Each owner is different and you will find widely varying rates. A townhouse is just another alternative, as I said before a bit more like staying in a hotel, probably for the more social people out there, that like to share a drink around a pool, I always felt fairly isolated in a villa.

I hate these sort of dilemas, whatever decision you make I'm sure it'll be fine - after all you'll be in Orlando :):)
