My wedding is currently scheduled for November 14, 2007.

We have learned that my DF’s grandma has cancer & will not be with us very much longer.

Has anyone every had to reschedule their wedding date for a similar situation?

We don’t want to cancel but, we need to push the date to either late spring 2008 or fall of 2008.

We are 50 days from our date at this time & I have a conference call with our WP tomorrow but, I’m very anxious & was wondering if any of you guys knew what I should expect?

I am sorry to hear about your DF's grandma. I'm sure DFTW will work with you on pushing your date back a few months. You will all certainly want to be with DF's grandma in the coming weeks.

thanks so much:hug:

I agree that DFTW will work with us on this issue - they have been so awesome so far:thumbsup2

the only thing I could find in our contract was that if a death actually occured that you could cancel without a fee but I can't find any information about having to reschedule:confused3

I guess I'll try that whole "patience is a virtue" thing my mom is always trying to impart on me:rotfl2:

This should not be a problem. The only thing is that - depending on where your wedding is to be held and when your new date is - they may not be able to guarantee some of your locations right away. They'd have to wait til a year/eight months from whatever date you pick.

So sorry to hear about this!

I can't offer up much help, but I do want to express my sympathies for your DF's grandma. Many hugs to you and the family at this difficult time.

Hi there. I haven't had to cancel a Disney wedding because of a similar situation, but before we decided to get married there, we had another wedding all planned and nearly paid for when my DF's mother found out she had uteran cancer. It was really hard and I know how hard it is to cancel your wedding, but you can always reschedule it and I'm sure the DFTW people will understand. The last thing you want is to not be there for them when they are going through this, and you also don't want to go through a wedding that your heart isn't completely into because of other things that are going on, either. You want to be able to really enjoy it. It's hard to do but you will feel so much better rescheduling. My heart goes out to you during this crummy time.

We were scheduled to be married November 15, 2007 at the Yacht club. My grandmother passed away unexpectedly in March, and we decided we didn't want to wait much longer to be married. When I asked my planner about moving the date, she said it would be no problem to move it, as long as the date was available and we could still keep all of our deposits. We ended up canceling our Disney wedding altogether and having a home wedding instead, but they would have moved it as far out as a year if necessary.
