We are staying at AKV for three nights of our Thanksgiving week stay and then moving to BCV for our last two nights. I am trying to figure out how to allow the kids to enjoy a monorail ride.

We have no real need to ride (no dinner reservations at a monorail resort, no plan to go from MK to Epcot, etc.), so... Is our best bet just to jump on at the MK or Epcot and ride the loop for fun? Can you even do that? I just can't seem to figure this one out :confused3 Thanks in advance for the advice.

I would just jump on while at MK as you suggested (yes you can do this). Or, plan it as a ride the night you check in. Drive to the TTC and then ride to Epcot and back.

You certainly can hop on in front of the MK and ride for fun. If the ride is important to your kids, then I would do that. If you want a "purpose" to the ride, then going from the MK to Epcot is your best bet (with no reservations at the monorail resorts). You can always ride the monorail to Epcot and walk through the park to pick up a fast pass for later that evening before returning to BCV - of course this requires park hoppers.

From the TTC you can take the resort or Epcot monorail or you can ride it on a Epcot or MK day.

If you want a short ride you can take the resort monorail and just make to loop around past the resorts and back to MK. We like to take a break and enjoy shopping at the gift shops in the resorts or go to the Contempo Cafe in the Contemporary and get one of those great cupcakes! You are certainly allowed to use the monorails just to ride. Have fun!

By the end of Thanksgiving week the "monorail resorts" should be decorated at least partially for Christmas.

I would plan a monorail ride and "resort hop" to see the decorations. :thumbsup2

I would suggest visiting The Grand Floridian... especially at XMAS time. They build a large Gingerbread house in the lobby.

I agree with above poster about the resorts being decorated for Christmas.......if you haven't seen the resorts decorated by all means do some resort hopping while on the monorail.......the GF gingerbread house is amazing....

Just get on and ride all around can stay on as long as you like...in fact my sister and I got on once and she fell asleep as it had been so hot all day and she slept for over hour and I just sat there and relaxed and she was 60 years old :rotfl:

Do you have park hoppers? We stay at BWV normally and use the monorail a lot to leave from the MK. Then we walk through Epcot - its a longish walk - pick up fastpasses for something on our way through (Test Track or Soarin), swim at the pool, have dinner in Epcot, ride that Fastpass ride, and walk home. You will need hoppers to get into Epcot and then the MK (or any other park).

If you don't have hoppers the best thing to do is just do a loop - probably the monorail resorts at the MK.....I'd do it WITH a purpose (like checking out holiday decorations) unless its a short trip. If its a short trip I'd just skip the monorail.

Do you have a car? If you are driving, you can drive to the TTC to go to the MK and ride the monorail to get to the MK....i.e. the traditional way to ride the monorail.

Mother always wanted to ride the monrail - so for just about every trip - would go to MK and ride the monrail - or would park at Epcot and ride the monrail.

It was one of her highlights. but believe me bring something for you to do - by the fourth time my eyes were glazed over....

but would ride it until she say enough.

for kids the monrail is the MK!

i would say one of the nights u r staying at bcv if u r spending the day at mk, after u r done, get on the monrail to ticket/trans, then switch monorails to get to epcot( youll get 2 monorail rides in) and then u can easily walk from epcot to bcv

also when u r boarding the monorails ask to sit up front with the driver. and if u r lucky enough to do so, ask he driver for the special trading cards. he'll know what you mean.

hope ur vacay is magical!!:):thumbsup2

We always do a monorail tour of resorts especially if we are there during the Christmas holiday season!! We all enjoy it and love to check out the different decorations and entertainment!!

They stopped letting people ride up front...:sad1:

The resort tour to see decorations is a must see using the monorail!! Plus it is a nice get away from the park and the kids love the gingerbread cookies at GF.
